no problem, these are the kind of threads where it helps to still be in high school:gsmile: |

Also a right triangle would have to denote that one of the angles is right. That's not in the picture :D |
The sign for a right angle is a box btw. Like in Mason's picture, but just because he drew one doesn't mean it's actually right angle :p |

no it doesn't. it would imply that it's not a right angle.
pythagoras' theorem would fail in this instance. :conf: |
How does the theory fail? |

so wouldn't that imply that RJT is also correct? |

I fail to see how this is not a right triangle then.
If all sides are 19, wouldn't that imply a right angle?
:conf:
I don't see how it can work any other way. |
if a triangle has a total of 180 degrees, and all sides are equal, why WOULD it be a right triangle? all the angles are 60degrees. |

it only works on a right angle triangle |

alright you maths lovers try this...
Each child in a family has at least 3 brothers and 2 sisters. What is the smallest number of children the family might have? |

His theory says that the hypotenuse has to be the longest side. In this case all sides are the same length. That's noted by the tic marks on each side. If the two adjacent sides had one tic mark and the hypotenuse had two tic marks, you could infer that it was a right angle. |

WRONG :p
Pythagorean theory only applies to RIGHT triangles. |
Thanks :p
I was asking why Erratik thought it would fail, but he edited his post because he realized it didn't. |
