San Jose Bars/Club Allowed to Stay Open 'til 3:00 am

San Jose OKs Extended Hours For Some Bars
(CBS 5) SAN JOSE The City Council unanimously approved a pilot program Tuesday afternoon to let some downtown area bars stay open later.
Under the program, the some bars and nightclubs will be allowed to stay open until 3 a.m. The establishments would still have to stop serving alcoholic beverages at 1:30 a.m.
The initial trial starts July 1 and will last 90 days.

I wish but Last Call will still be at 1:45am. The alcohol Law for California will still be imposed. :( |

not enough venues/gigs in the south bay to excite me about this, at least not yet :)
Greg having lived in downtown san jose a few years ago I know what you mean but i agree with the city on why theyre doing this. you dont want drunks roaming around downtown and its better for them to chill for another hour before kicking them out. although it also means theres additional time for to go wrong especially on holiday weekends. |

The whole idea of extending the bars/clubs operating hours pass 2am is to AVOID flushing out 5000+ people out of the South First St. Clubs at the same time. Right now it's a cluster F*ck every weekend. In addition most of them are still Drunk when sent home.
Letting the bars/clubs open 'til 3am will encourage people to leave in separate packs and hopefully sober up.
On the other hand, I think this will also help the EDM scene here in the South Bay because it can attrack the EDM promoters and fans to start throwing parties because of the extended hours. We all know that the EDM community are late partiers. I hope they can extended it to atleast 5am :D |
