i have a notebook with an s-video out port and i want to hook it to my my badass flatscreen tv to watch movies stored on the computer.
without removing the flatscreen from the wall, the only accessible area for inputs is on the side.

its 5 female ports, all labeled under input 5.
below is the layout for the inputs on the side of the tv, with their color, and their labels.

() green, Y/Video
() blue, Pb
() red, Pr
() white, L/Mono (audio)
() red, R (audio)

is there a way to go from the notebook using s-video out to the inputs on the side of the tv ??

notebook = toshiba satellite A105-S4384
tv = hitashi 55HDS69

Yes.

There are a few ways depending on inputs/outputs. You will probably end up buying a small adapter for $10 or something.

If you buy a plugzor like this:

(Ignore the six pronged thing on the right), you can plug the headphone jack into the computer, then plug the red, white and yellow plugs into your television. I don't know about the quality, but I'm guessing it would be inferior to s-video.

It seems weird to me that your television wouldn't have a yellow RCA plug. Most modern televisions have an s-video input, as well as RCA,

If you're intent on using s-video, you should easily be able to find a cord that will connect straight from your laptop to the television using the s-video inputs on both.

Take a pic of the inputs on your tv. It'll be easier for ppl to help you.

Use your monitor out on your laptop, with cable that does monitor in/component out. You can't plug s-video into component inputs.

i do something similar with my home system all the time, requires 3 thihngs
1 cable that has red/white rca at one end, and an 1/8" headphone jack at the other, to go from headphone jack to audio input (on tv/reciever etc)
2 another rca cable
3 rca-->svideo cable. its a little adapter, smaller than my thumb, you just gotta close the screen of the laptop and open it again so it'll reset the resolution etc
works perfectly, or close enough for me
