| so im going to spain for a month, and the camera im buying (10.1mb) comes with a 512 MB. I know there is no exact number or anything, but with the default settings and such, is that going to be big enoguh to last a month of taking pictures? |

If you take pictures at full 10.1 megapixel resolution.. probably not.
How much of a picture whore are you? My DSLR is only an 8MP and I have a 2 gig card on there and I can only take about 250 pictures. I shoot raw though.
Raw images for my camera are about 8 megs each. Jpegs 1-3 megs or so.
So it all depends on how you shoot, what size settings you camera allows and how many pictures you plan to take.
My old Fuji FinePix let you drop the resolution from 6mp to 4,3,or 1.5. I could only take about 100 or so pictures at full resolution with a 512 card, but it increased so much when it dropped in resolution. I am a HQ whore tho so I just bought a bigger card. |

I hate to say it, but taking your pics at 10.0MP is useless. Unless you a pro, or regularly print out your shots for big prints, don't use such a high setting.
Still 512MB will not be enough, even if you shoot at 3MP. Go get a 2gig(at least) card, and it should be a bit better. If you do not mind spending a big extra, go for 4 or even 8gigs. |

Actually I agree with that. Most point and shoots use similar sized sensors. The more MP you cram onto the sensor, the more noise it will pick up. It is worse when you 'zoom' as the focal point on the sensor decreases. The sensor on my fuji before was about the size of my pinky finger nail. On my Canon DSLR it is literally 1 inch by 1.8 inches. |

| SD card are so cheap these days, there's no excuse to have anything under 2 gigs (typically no more than 25-30 bucks at Best Buy and given week). |
