i eq in little spurts like that

it makes for a smoother transition, eq in little spurts on beat (i tend to do them on 4s or 8s)

mid-mix my hands are all over the place on the mixer, i'll be going for the cue then the headphone, some eq and faders, maybe back to the headphone to check the tune coming in, back to the eq and faders, adjust the gains... etc.

watch digweed play too, his hands are loving the eqs... and he has 4 to play with (xone 92 is his mixer of choice)

track selection is key though, pick the right track and it almost mixes itself

didnt meen for my tone to sound harsh..but knowing they were a newbi i only put the link up to give examples. if i wanted to promote my stuff i would have included the tracklist!! only expected the listener to listen to a few mixes to get the point across.
nor am i trying to sound like the kig of mixing, and the only reason i said

not a single mix is less than 1:30 long

is because on that set some of the tracks you can only hear the main riff of the song for 30 seconds which would imply it was a "quick mix"

This already shows me that you have very limited knowledge about mixing.

once again not trying to sound like a bad ass but to comment back
i spin of 4 cdj's and that set had 32 tracks in 70 minutes.
i will send you the link and the tracklist privity.
you should listen to "what im promoting" before you tell me i have
"very limited Knowledge about mixing"
i know alot of stuff but i also know there are more tricks out there then i will ever know.

but point taken! i should be carefull about what i say on these boards so i dont sound thike an ! :)

there is a difference between proper eqing and having nervous energy and pretending to do more than one is really doing for the sake of showmanship, is all I am saying. it really doesn't take that much tweaking to get tracks to mix well, just the right timing. plus, it's not like you have a pinpoint accurate eq system on a dj mixer, so you're going to affect more than you need to

nefardec:

yes there is very much a difference! the people that are really listening to the set that know the track mainly other dj's know what is really going on. i understand what you were saying. it pisses my of mhen i see someone acts like there doing something when there not doing anything. i once watched one of my idols fake their whole set with a pre recorded mix!

and you could have not said it better. timing is everthing!!
hearing tale ends of songs mix is boring. droping the songs in at the right moment is key.

yep! it doesn't mater if you can mix better than everyone else in the world
if you are playing crap, they will still be "or not" dancing to crap!

Eh, I did not mean to discredit you or anything. It's just that in your post you sounded a bit like an arrogant ass. I hope there are no hard feelings and I will listen to your mix as soon as I get a chance.

Thank you very much for the tracklist.;)

Not to sound like an ass but i find mixes like this to be very annoying to listen to.. it really isn't that hard to do iether, there is absolutely nothing wrong with playing intros and outros together sometimes, most house music has very nice intros and outros that it would just be stupid to leave them out of a mix (especially prog & tech) you would lose those insane transitions that just have to be done the way they were produced if you know what i meen...

On the subject of touching eq nobs etc, i think its just a habit that's imposible to break, i do it all the time it makes me get into the music.
