It is. It is more than enough to kill you.

"The liver can oxidize alcohol at a set rate. For most people, the rate is roughly just less than one drink an hour or 15 mg of alcohol per 100 mL of blood or .015% BAC. If a person drinks more than one drink per hour, his or her BAC will increase."

To give a little perspective, here are some stats:

5 drinks @ end of hour 1

Female @ 100lbs = .189 BAC
Male age 25 @ 100 lbs = .142 BAC

Let's assume the woman is around 175lbs (hey... americans are fat).

5 drinks @ the end of hour 1

Female @ 175 lbs = .140 BAC

She was at .50 BAC. Yea, that is a hell of a lot of alcohol.

Good point. It was just for perspective :p
Dr. Cfire
The number of drinks does not translate well to a level of intoxication. Because of variation in physiology and individual alcohol tolerance. However an estimate is two standard drinks (containing a total of 20 grams) of alcohol will increase the average person's BAC roughly 0.05%. A single drink an hour after that will keep the BAC at roughly 0.05%.

You were severely drunk, you shouldn't have been driving, you got your DUI ( the next few are assuming this was in california), payed heavy fines, possibly jail time, had to serve many court ordered hours of community service, hopefully didnt kill anyone, well done.
