Firewire PCMCIA latency question

Will running a sound card through a pcmcia firewire card add alot of latency?
I don't want a usb interface because I'll be getting a laptop with firewire relatively soon, and I prefer firewire.
Does anyone use this setup. |

| I did for a long time - worked perfectly fine. The PCMCIA card I had just required that the interface have the power plugged in, but worked perfect for over a year. |

| Awesome, I thought for sure that it would add some latency considering its another driver to pass through but I guess the drivers are efficient enough that its really inconsequential |
