| i work at Canada's Wonderland looking after their audio equipment. Every ride in the park is checked over by both mechanics, electricians and my department for several hours every morning before the park opens. They are also run over thoroughly for about 6 hours once a week on overnight shifts. Safety is taken very seriously, obviously incidents like the one in the States are a tragedy and great steps are taken to prevent it. |

The ride description that has been removed after the incident:
Zoom through a 23-story plunge at speeds over 60 mph. Superman: Tower of Power is an extreme free-fall ride that carries you to the top of the 230-foot tower, giving you a bird's-eye view of the park. Then, after a few seconds of gut-wrenching anticipation, you plunge down at over 60 mph.
* Sit in ski-lift-style chairs that face outward—your feet dangle in the air
* Get ready for a harrowing 23-story plunge at over 60 mph
Superman: Tower of Power BY THE NUMBERS

Maybe you can tell me why Wonderland didn't add any new rides this year. |

She overcame her fears by taking the ride, but eventually got defeeted.
Hey Dima, regarding your quote:
"You're absolutely right, I only hope she can hurry and get her foot in the door with a lawsuit."
No chance, she doesn't have a leg to stand on. I heard they tried to offer a settlement that included free park passes, but you gotta be this --- tall to ride. |

As you may know the park was sold last year halfway through the season by Paramount and was bought by Cedar Fair. The new owners decided to build two new restaurants instead of a ride, not sure why. Ground is being broken on a new ride by next week, it is a coaster that will be over the lake that is behind Italian Job. Supposed to be the biggest in the park. It should take about a year to build and will be open sometime next year. |

Sorry to high-jack real quick....as Lazy Haze said, Wonderland was bought by Cedar Fair who also owns Cedar Point. If you like coasters you're in for a ing treat now that Cedar Fair owns them. Hopefully they'll build Wonderland up like Cedar Point - aka best amusement park in the world.
Sorry to hear what happened to that girl. |
