MADRID, Spain -- Thierry Henry is leaving Arsenal to sign with Barcelona in one of European soccer's major transfers of the offseason.
Barcelona will pay $32 million for the 29-year-old forward, who agreed to a four-year contract, Cadena Ser radio and the newspaper El Pais said Friday. Barcelona planned to announce the signing on Saturday.
Henry has been with Arsenal since 1999, scoring a club-record 226 goals in 364 appearances. He helped the Gunners win two English Premier League titles and three Football Association Cups.

The biggest challenge for him is going to be getting over his delusional 'Im bigger than the team' mentality.
challenges he will face because of this:
- Trying not to sulk if he is left on the bench
- Refraining from criticizing the team if they lose while he is out injured
- Not sulking if the ball is not passed to him
Srsly, I think Arsenal did themselves a world of good by selling him of. Personally I never rated him very highly as he only performed against smaller clubs putting 3-4 goals past them and then being virtually invisible when the big clubs came to town.
Irony is that with him out for most of last season, Arsenal beat the top 4 clubs and performed poorly against the weaker teams. |
