| For the 1,000,000,000,000,000,000th time, I support having to be approved upon registration before being able to post. I know they have their reasons for not doing this but by God, a serious level of alt and spam problems could easily be solved. Yes, "technology" and software does do a good job at preventing spam, but it will never beat the human element. |

I agree with the principle of that Idoru (is that the way TA's sign-up process used to be? I know it took almost a day before I could post when I joined) but it must take a lot of work, to sift through all that. When you consider that there have been 6253 people join up since I became a member last September, that works out to be a bunch of work, per day.
Who will do the sifting work? Swamper? The mods? Other volunteers?
Yeah though, the spambot/alt thing is getting pretty full-on lately :/ |

Here is a trick to find anyone's profile with their name alone:

Normally, when you click on someone's profile, this is what you get:

But, you don't need to find a post or thread of theirs in order to get their profile.
Just change userid to username and type in their name!

But what if you want their userid (for some reason)? Simple!
You can hover over the following links:
Search for all posts by this user.
Add aaarmin to Your Buddy List
Add aaarmin to Your Ignore List
Administrative Options: User Options
Or, View Source and search for 'userid' if you want to copy and paste.
Hopefully, nobody knew this before and you're impressed. :whip:

I'd thought that all the mods would know about the username thing
But when a mod suspends someone, they would usually be at that someone's post anyway (or how would they know the reason why to suspend that someone) and from that post they have a button to click to either suspend that user or edit thier sig (any mod can do that with any user) |

Thats a spambot thats been caught by the filters Swamper has set in place, all spambots caught in this way have that postcount, they don't have that many posts, it also does not add to the overall forum postcount, it is merely an identifier |
