Major vs. minor songs

Anyone have a personal preference towards songs in a major key vs. a minor key or vice versa, and why? I have a friend who just tends to really like minor songs, it's kinda interesting...
Eugene
Yes.
I only prefer songs that are in MINOR keys.

Why? Because they build up tension, they're very emotional, and there's always a theme of anxiety in them -- which I really enjoy!! Listen to something like Armin - Communication. The beauty and power of this track is largely due to the intense, anxiety-provoking minor keys. Or something like Push - Strange World. The chords are in minor keys, making this track very serious, strong, and emotional.

For your information, most Trance songs are written in minor keys, and it's the same with EuroDance. I can only name 2-3 songs that aren't.

EXCELLENT QUESTION!!
I have been pondering about this for ages. What is it that makes us identify songs in minor key with sadness? How does our ear interpret this as a certain type of emotion? how come we can all agree that, for example, Mecca - Diamondback is a very tragic, and sad song?

need to get my behind in a music theory class.

By the way, Eugene, I'd have to agree with everything you've said,

although I'm not quite sure as to whether Strange World is in complete minor key..

cheers
Ilina
