Me, Wilyruk, and Diego are headed down to Miami early.. Hopefully we will be able to do a TA Meetup of some sorts before the show because I have still yet to meet everyone.. If I don't catch you before hand we should be at Space around 12...

people, tiesto has never been known for his technical abilites. in fact he is on record saying that he is a "risky mixer" and that track selection is more part of his game. the thing that used to set tiesto apart from the rest of your euro trance djs was the "magik journey". what i mean from this was the set structure and track selection. the guy used to take you on journey with his sets.

he ALMOST never does that anymore, i dare to say there might be only 1-2 gigs a year where he does it. its a damn shame. it used to be DJ Tiesto the DJ, now its just Tiesto, the artist and enertainer. what i notice now is that he tries to appease the noob masses at most sets with cheesy hits from Just Be and more of the newer cheese bombs he has put out, and than btween alll the wack tracks he will mix in a real track to try to appease and really TEASE the older fans, who for whatever havent moved on and realized he is 95percent garbage now.

he really just has to make a simple choice, spin for the noobs, or spin for the real music heads. quit all this vacillating bull and just admit that you are a full blown commercial pop dj, and not a real dj in the sense of you what once were. or if you want to be real dj again, quit spinning with a traveling circus at theatres and concert halls, and come back to clubs and music festivals, like a real dj does. make a choice, because your not fooling me. be a dj or be pop. dont try to please both sides, because its not working and you can feel the vibe here on TA, for what three to four years? he has totally alienated his original fanbase that brought him the fame in the first place. make a choice tijs.

what i meant is at least the basic . i've listened toa few of his old sets and his beatmatching was on spot and sometimes he was doing some interesting in key phrase matching. so what i mean is that before he at least had the basics down, now his sets sounds like nothing different than what someone who used virtual dj to record a set sound like.
MichaelBoogerd!
If Tiesto is phrase matching, it is by accident.

He spins from instinct, not from technical knowledge like some like Buuren.

haha, it probably was lol

mattivi said it to the TEE!!! Tiesto used to take you on a journey. where even if you werent emotional you became that way ... through structure and track selection. Its sad that he has let that aside only to please the mainstream. I hope that one day he will realize that he has set all that aside and will come back to it. Until then im not paying more than 40 to see him ever again.

it's the set length (and location, though the two are usually commensurate), not the price, that should be the determinant metric.

actually it should be the "bang for the buck." At the very least the utility you get from attending the event should be equal to the dollar value you spent.

the "bang for the buck" is determined by the variables Konijn listed. If you have a long set, in a decent city, you don't need to worry about getting your "bang" it'll be there at some point over the 5-6 hours.

So if he plays for 24 hours straight he is bound to play something good at some point

And for that he will only charge the venue a million and litter the crowd with 23 hours of COMPLETE CRAP compared to 1 hour of good stuff :o

And Miami is a decent city, where Tiesto has sucked ass 3 straight times, including WMC. So again you are 100% wrong

So quit making excuses for the clown, Tiesto went to complete , with flat-liner no energy crap sets all around, end of story, period. GET OVER IT

Chris i agree with what you and nick are saying, but from the tracklist you guys have recently compiled, the sets really look pretty damn lame. Usually the first half to 3/4 quarters of set is comprised of insipid artist tracks from Just Be and EOL, and other abhorrent tracks like "Hes a Pirate" or "Dance for Life" and some new inane remix of an older classic, ie Lethal IndustryVIII, etc. its as predictable as a june shower. than as the noobs clear the concert hall to get home in time for curfew than he will bang out some decent tunes with proper tech stompers and occassionally go on a tear.

The thing is before putting out two albums a month became the tour de force, and subsequently going on the ensuing promotional tour for that album; he used to just tour, the old fashioned way. no new albums, no concerts, no circus, no win over the planet aspirations. and when you saw him it was just magik, and you didnt have to worry that if you saw him for 5-6 hours, there would be a little bite size morsel for you towards the end, or middle, or whatever. you used to get the whole damn cookie, you got the bang for your buck the whole show. that means if he spun for 5-6hours or even 2-3, he only whored out one of his own productions at like a clip of 1 per hour. it was a beautiful thing.

now when i see a tracklist of his its pretty much just tiestos greatest hits and the latest cheese list. its disgusting.
dont get me wrong it would be disingenuous to think that tijs or anyone else wouldnt throw in a few of his own tracks into a set, new or old, but to dilute 75% with it?! totally unnecessary.

another thing i find disconcerting is his recent habit of cutting his gigs short, the Atlanta gig was advertised to be five hours, instead he played 3-4, he should be ashamed of himself. personally i wouldnt tolerate such bait n switch tactics, i find this to be totally unscrupulous behavior. and i dont want to hear it was the promoters fault, as im sure team tiesto has a hand in any promotions for these EOL events that go out. dont promise what you cant deliver, its misrepresentation and catergorically dishonest.

at any rate, i give you guys over at tiesto tracklist your props, despite all the crap you remain ardent fans is a true testament of loyalty and fandom.;) :D
