iPhone - anyone getting one?

I guess in a few years lots of us will have a phone something like this. Not yet available in my country, maybe within a year. I would consider getting one, got free legal wi-fi in a few places where I go.
From what I've read, the websurfing is slow on the cell system (EDGE) but lots better on wi-fi. Maybe later models will connect to internet by WiMax which is long range but similar speed to DSL and cable modem.
Here's my trusty old Nokia 3100 next to cut-out pics of iPhone (actual iPhone is a bit smaller):

Haha, I had that Nokia for a while. That thing was a tank. As for the iPhone, based on what I've read, it's best to wait as it's missing a lot of basic stuff that will hopefully be included in software updates later on. (How can you not use your mp3s as ringtones! No video in webpages except Youtube, etc.) Also, that keyboard looks like it's kind of a bitch to use, so much so that Apple put out a video yesterday in an attempt to show how "intuitive" it is.
I'm gonna wait. |

Not worth the money for me. I use a phone for, well, calling people. There are cheaper solutions for that.
Plus, I've heard pretty mixed opinions so far.. I'd say give them time to debug it first. |

unlocking likely won't happen because of the fact that it feeds off of itunes to ensure that you dont do anything fun with it |

| I would much rather get a Toshiba g900. Only $100 more, and 10x the functionality. |

Yeah thats the thing about the iPhone that no one is understanding, everything it's offering has been done already. |

Other phone companies may have announced powerful phone features but how many people actually have those phones and are using them to do those things? I don't think any other phone is actually being used to do all or most of the iPhone functions. Certainly not in USA but maybe in Asia they have some powerful phones operating that are not available in North America, I think other countries have had 3G networks operational for a year or 2 and they're ahead on that stuff.
The Toshiba G900 is about the same surface size as the iPhone but nearly twice as thick and 50% heavier, only 64 MB memory but there is an optional 2 GB SD card, compared to iPhone with 4 or 8 GB flash memory (and unknown amount of ram but it is enough for a stripped down version of OSX).
It looks like they sold half a million iPhones in the first few days, most reviews are good and they might hit a million in the first month. |

And pretty much anything Apple has to offer. Ipod is overpriced... for cheaper you can get a similar Iriver model and they are far better. |
