Is there any type of scene in Sacramento? I will be in the area beginning of August (around August 1,2). Looking to play while I'm there. Will also be in Reno/ Tahoe Aug 4,5,6. looking for info in those towns as well
Any info would be greatly appreciated! |

Hey Victor,
Well the only place that I know of is "Barcode". Oakey spun there I think last year to promote his new artist album. The trance/edm scene isn't really big here at all, I think. I say it would be like Fresno, when you spun at club glo. Hope that was some help to you. |

I tried to start up the scene there but I cant get any decent venues. But a club called "The Park" has started bringing in some top EDM acts recently. Like Donald Glaude, Bad Boy Bill. I saw ATB play at "Empire" but the show was a bomb. It was on a sunday for some reason and hardly anyone showed up and the event lost alot of money so I am not sure they wanna try EDM again. But ATB did tear it up, one of the best sets I have ever seen.
There are some other places to play like "Silk" but it is a real hole in the wall kinda place and I'd guess capacity is like 200 or something. But they are really the only venue holding EDM events weekly. |

scene in Sacramento died with the Dotcom boom......good club bookings, 20,000 person events at the fair grounds, record stores opening everwhere in town, and then BAM everything died with in a years time:confused:
all thats left is a few one off events and EDM club nights here and there...its wierd too considering the huge size of Sacramento:conf: |

the edm sac scene died in 2002, r.i.p.
and as far as the couple clubs that play edm, i won't even recommend just because they are just too unreliable
and my boys' club isn't ready, still! (again unreliable) |

Does it have to be in Sac? There a few well known SF parties that happen on wed nights (like Aug 1). They are all on the progressive house side., though.
The the Qool party(Jondi & Spesh's ala LooQ recorsd party) at 111 Minna from 5pm-10pm every wedneday. Always gets a packed house. Resident DJs in incude Josh, Spesh, Mark Musselman (half of MOMU), Jerry Bonham, etc. Gives you an idea of the quality the music is.
There's also SatelliteSF, run by Scott Carrelli (he posted under SatelliteSF on these boards), at Anu from 10pm-2am. He is notorious for bringing in huge prog DJs as special guest while usually keeping the entry free or only $5. It's a small venue, but it's slamming on Wed nights. Scott along with Spundae are respnonsible for the annual Love Lee event. :p |

the sac scene isn't perfect, but there are some promoters and djs that are genuinly trying to make it work, im really sick of all the talking, i am a promoter here in sac and in the next month and a half i have at least 3 good size shows i am throwing here, that are bringing in great talent and should have a pretty good turnout, i will pm you with more details about stuff here, but if you have an open mind and just love to spin and throw down for ppl that will really appreciate then i would love to try and organize an event or add you to a line-up i have coming up. dont let everyone talk you into such a negative perspective of sac. thats why it is so hard to progress here, cuz that is so much crap talking about the scene, but dont expect see 10,000 ppl at show, i will say that.
we have a pretty big outdoor party on aug. 4th if you would be interested |
