The airport had been cleared after an anonymous telephoned bomb warning. Spain's airport authority closed Ibiza airport on one of the country's favorite holiday islands due to a security alert, officials said Saturday. Media reports said there had been warnings to a Basque newspaper. A spokeswoman for the AENA airport authority, which controls Spain's airports, said the airport had been closed to outgoing and incoming flights due to a security alert but would not say if it was a bomb alert.
