I don't have a lot of time to write a long-ass review, so this will be short and sweet. I was very positively surprised with our night at Opium Lounge. The decorations and lights were wicked, and created a really nice ambiance. I had no idea you guys do this at the Psy events. To be completely honest, I expected something like CoZo, only on a rooftop. But man, even Skybar doesn't compare - really good job with decorating the venue. It was cool, and not packed, which made it an awesome atmosphere to get your dance on.
It was also wicked to blaze outside on the balcony and watch the primped-up Richmond St crowd mingle below you. Lots of space to sit too!
The sound wasn't the best I've ever heard, but that was understandable cause it was a rooftop patio and you guys can't really have it blasting like I would have liked. I was missing just a little more bass OOOMPH from the speakers, nothing more. Regardless, it was muuuch better than at SkyBar. Again, pleasantly surprised.
Last, but definitely not least, the DJs. SICKNESS all night long. We came in just before 1am, and left at 5:30am, and it was REALLY good Psy the whole time. Didn't really like the guy before Sketi, but after Sketi came on the decks, the music just became better and better. He threw down a nice hard set with a lot of "ed-up" synths, but it wasn't too ed up that we could actually enjoy it. The guy after him though, WOOOW. Virtual Light in MUUURKED it. Puure awesome melodies and hard beats. That's what I love about Psy, and Virtual Light ing delivered right on time. Loved his whole set - was dancing non-stop the entire time I was listening to it. Then came Mandelbrot, and he delivered his own style of very melodic, more relaxed Psy, and it was the perfect style to wrap up the night - it kept you going, but it wasn't like banging hard so you could just groove to the music and not get tired.
Awesome night in the end. |

amazing night, very happy that i came
music was top notch, really banging and at the same time trippy and melodic, just the way psy should sound. Glad there was none of htat techy scratch stuff, prolly since we came in after 1am and i think Lauryn plays that kind of psy....
great vibe, great crowd, amazing decor as always at any shakti event. u guys a great it really adds to the vibe and tripout effect. Great that there was free water, haha u'd never see that at any other club.
absolutely loved the open sky/patio thing, best air conditioning ever i was never too hot. The cool gust of wind during a build up really felt amazing.
overall 10/10, see you all at eclipse ;) |

People at psy events are really nice (Probably because they are super high). :P
I had a wikkkkkid night. The music was amazing. A good mix of every element of psy.
I definitely appreciated the open roof aspect. My hair stayed straight alllllll night long because sweat wasn't dripping onto me. W0000t! :p
I couldn't dance as much as I wanted to because of my neck injury, but I still enjoyed the night.
PLUR WAS IN EFFECT!!!!!!! |

I thought it was an epic event... I was there early for my set (6pm) and stayed nearly 12 hours. I am particularly glad that people appreciate the effort put into the deco (for me, this is one of the main things that distinguishes psytrance events from "just another night out")...
Anyhow, here are some pics:
