My girlfriend is killing me to get a boston terrier. We have a seller here in Oklahoma that can get us one next week.

any advise on that breed of dog.... i dont want to hear to get a german shepard or bull mastif instead...

thoughts, opinions, concerns...

btw its kind of pricey.. and we have a cross country drive to do with the new pup in 3 weeks...(if we got it)

I dont know what a boston terrier is...

BUT, one thing i have learned... if it's going to be an outdoor dog, it can't be small and it can't have long hair. Small = get all over itself. Long hair = get even more all over itself. You can wash them twice a week, but theyre just as dirty the next day. You can't win.

Anything smaller than this...

CANNOT go outside. Unless it's a jack russel (no hair = no dirt).

i've read that boston terriers are may be a little timid, but if they're anything like boxers they should be really fun. the car trip will probably be traumatic for the puppy. i suggest you work him up to it but sitting in the car and then taking very short car rides. or just wait until after the trip to buy the puppy.

hed have to drive to get the puppy.

pick a shy one if you can, and an obedience school is likely necessary if you arent skilled in that way. they can be really hyper and spazzy or shy and sweet generally. spazzy can be fun, but the poop is not.

make sure you dont like your furniture.

they arent boxers.

french bulldogs are similar in looks and size, and dont require as much maintenance, as they are smarter generally|

I never understood the attraction to dogs like that. They just look ugly to me :conf:
