I like any hard music, be it hard techno, hard trance or hard house.

However, there's something about techno that doesn't seem that 'hard', the repetitiveness can be a bit too much, like progressive trance, sends you to sleep after a while if the beats aren't thumping. Hard trance is my fav, you don't get many beats that are more banging than Scot Project (if anyone knows any then DO recommend!).

the day you fall asleep when dj rush is playing on a party you're on, that day you can make that statement.
otherwise, you should probably try out real techno..
because when you listen to real techno, the beats are so fast and hard that you cant stand still...
your feet just moves automatically..
with other words, you cant control them.. they live their own lives

go to a nice techno party, and then let us hear your opnion.
because with that statement you just made, i really cant believe that you have heard banging techno at its best

Give me some tunes to download, I admit I'm a newbie when it comes to techno.

I don't like tunes over 150/160bpm though, beats start to sound then and you can't dance to it properly.

But anything below that, I'm open to recommendations :)

I could see that happen to me :D

quote:

It was, unequivicolly, the most amazing set I have seen in my life, and I only wish I'd caught the entire three hours. Bear in mind that the guy had already been djing for 90 - 120 minutes by the time I'd gotten there, but the energy - and his technique was simply amazing. He didn't show much emotion - he just let his music do the talking. I'd been used to seeing dj's of "regular" music spin so I wasn't quite prepared for this: he was mixing new records in every 60-90 seconds (he must have used over 100 for the night) and then he'd just let them sit there.... he'd turn his back on the decks, let the records spin, turn around to his record box and shuffle around a bit, and he'd turn back a minute later and the records were still spinning in perfect sync. I was blown away: he'd start scratching one record, then tweak the other for a couple of second with his elbow, then release them and they'd be in perfect synchronisation yet again.

And don't even got me started on the slamming tunes he'd drop one after the other - absolutely relentless energy. I couldn't have stopped dancing even if I'd wanted to.

If nothing else, that night reminded me why I keep on coming back to techno music. As it stands right now, progressive is still my bitch, but one more massive techno set like that and I could be converted quite easily. I also was reminded exactly why I keep on coming back to techno - it has a sincere energy about it: nothing cheesy, nothing pretentious, just beats and loops..... pumping, filtered beats and loops. Quite the genre.

Anyway, I'm sure you get the point. Don't know why I spent the last hour writing all that, but I hope someone reads it. Just trying to get across what techno means to me, and how I keep on returning to it as it keeps on evolving.

The techno is massive. :)

damn thanks for writing it. I really love techno too. that was an awesome story that made me all hot for getting back to germany and getting in my Chris Liebing lovin' :D

I cannot wait for Cocoonclub @ Hafentunnel this summer.. 2 days of techno goodness. I hope Mills comes around again this year, he was here 2 years ago, but i did not go :(

I can't remember how bad Scot Project beats are, but try downloading Stomper vs. Basscar "Ba-zooca" or "Die Steinigung". It's not particularly fast, but unlike most modern techno it's *very* heavy and refreshingly low on hi-hats.

USSR: Does that second list of yours consists of only hard techno (and not any detroit/acid/minimalistic etc.) tracks?
