| i have found that a pretty good rule of thumb is: have nice or bring some and the party will never end...its applicable in all 50 states...Hawaii but not Alaska. |

Chicago bar time is 2AM Monday through Thursday, 4AM on Friday, and 5AM on Saturday.
And if you're clever, the night certainly doesn't have to stop then.
And a person from Chicago is called a "person from Chicago." |
So bar service stops at those times, as in, you can't get a drink past then?
That sucks. |

meh, it's not too bad.
but then again compared to a place that is pretty much 24/7, well, haha, i guess there is no comparison. |

Only a fool would think that a city responsible for establishing the house-techno staple in the world, would force people to stop partying at 3am. :stongue: |
The city of Boston shuts down at 2AM. |

1. What do you call a person from Chicago? Chicagan? Chicagoean? Chicagonese? Pretty sure it's the first one.
2. Ok, here's my real question:
A group of friends just got back from the US where they bought a limo in New York, drove it to LA then sold it for only $1000 less instead of hiring a car. On their way, they stopped in Chicago among other places.
The story goes that one night they went to see Hernan Cattaneo play, and he started at midnight or thereabouts. By three am, the whole club was rocking, and all of a sudden the music stopped, the lights were turned on, and everybody told to leave.
Out the front, my friends asked fifty or more people where they could go next, only to be told repeatedly that nothing was open after 3am, and that they should just go home.
Is this bull? Were they on really bad drugs? Were people lying to them, or does the city really, truly, effectively shut down at 3am??? :nervous:
Also, did any of you meet my stupid friends? There were eight outgoing Aussie blokes, at least three or four of them massive EDM fans. They were driving around in a limo so I guess they were fairly conspicuous... |
Hernan ended at 3:30.
By city ordinance, liquor licenses allow you to be open until 4am on Fridays. In very limited circumstance (see VFW, riverboat casinos out of Indiana) this law does not apply.
If they had found the right people they would have been partying until Tuesday (like I was).

Been to Chicago once and I'm staying at Macomb County, Michigan for a few more months because of my job. I can say from my experience, that Chicago is the best looking city in the Mid-west hands down. I also love their clubs and pizza. Their pizza can compete with New York's pizza without a doubt. A lot of the Italians who owned pizzerias in NYC moved to Chicago. It's sorta like NYC in ways, except it's cleaner, there's less people, and the apartments are a little cheaper.
I prefer the NYC clubs in downtown lower eastside Manhattan over Chicago , but overall Chi town is a better city overall. And thank god they don't have that stupid midwest accent, where they pronounce their A's real funny. Like they do in Michigan, when they say rap, they pronounce it [raiap] they cary the ing a like there's 2 a's and an i in that word, it cracks me up all the time. I can't wait to go back to NYC, only a few more months left. |
