| Whenever I try to synthesize an airy pad from scratch I can get the pad part but not the airyness. I've tried increasing resonance, increased reverb, and some phasing but to no avail. Anyone know how to do it? |

| Its mostly about layering.. Add a little white noise with some filtersweeps on it. Filter out the lower mids a bit. Add a slight flanger. Make sure you dont lowpass filter your pad all the way. |

| I always thought it was about using a sawtooth wave with high resonance, high frequency, and a slow modulation of the frequency that moves just a little bit up and down. Very important to use a bandpass filter instead of lowpass though I think. |

Add a sine osc transposed 2-3 octaves up. You can pitch modulate it slightly as well. Tweak the level of it so it's barely audible.
Finally add some phaser to the synth, not too much or it will be obvious. |
