My sister's going on an intership in a month or two, she'll be staying in Boston for around 6 months. My parents and I are thinking about visiting her while she's there. Don't know when that'll be, but I was getting excited about going to the USA again, so I started wondering how your (club)scene is. Last times I was in the USA, I wasn't 21 yet so I couldn't go out clubbing. Now I am, and I'm ready for some USA clubs! So, if anyone could tell me something about the best spots, I'd greatly appreciate that!
When I'm there, I won't be clubbing 24/7, so if anyone could recommend some things to do in the daytime, that'd be awesome too.
Looking at the partyplanner, Boston doesn't seem very exciting. Maybe I should visit NY while I'm at it?
Chances are great we'll visit her around Christmas & New Year. That truly is a great prospect.
Thanks in advance for all answers/advice.
Greetings,
Frenk

Unfortunately it's not that exciting and clubs close EARLY, Boston gets some good talent but you should try to make your way down to NYC during your stay.

You should definitely visit the club called Rise in Boston while you're there. It's a nice venue with great sound, a warm atmosphere, and they bring in great talent.

Like Chimera66 said, if you're in boston the best thing you can do is take the trip down to NYC. There's too much to list. There's so much stuff i can never pick what to do so usually i just sit at home and watch tv. ;)

thats about right, and A LOT of meatheads in the boston scene... LOT!
NYC all the way!
overall, Boston is pretty dumb/lame, everything is done by 1AM, 2 at the latest...

First off, there are meatheads everywhere...
The deal with Boston/Cambridge.
Sunday - Wednesday: Bars/Clubs close at 1am
Thursday - Saturday: Bars/Clubs close at 2am
Rise is the best thing in boston. It is a private members only club that is open from 1:30am-6:30am on Fridays + Saturdays (and Sundays for holiday weekends). If you need more info let me know.
I agree that there is alot more to do in NYC for clubs, but if you can't make the trip you still have options in Boston. It just depends on what your persuasion is...

it's the first and only afterhours club, as i understand?

To call boston dumb and lame is kind of ingnorant.
Okay the club scene is not the best by any means, but good talent does come through quite regularly.
Bookashade is playing on august 3rd @ mansion
Bump! @ pheonix landing on Sundays is a great night but does close @ 1am - they just recently had funk d'void come through and tear the place to shreds!
Make it new @ middlesex lounge on Thursdays in cambridge is a great night if you you like detroit techno and minimal. Morgan Giest recently plaed there.
Wednesdays @ pheonix landing is a new techno night hosted by Sergio santos and Pat fontes
Bend @ caprice longe on Friday nights gaining popularity and is hosted by local djs Tom Bartlet( reversible records) Sergio santos, and Matt Diamond aka one half of the Bald and the beautiful ( dirty bird records)
Rise is bostons only afterhours club and has a wide variety of artists come through every week - www.riseclub.us
Heartthrob @ middlesex lounge every month on tuesday is probabaly the craziest night in the city just now. they play everything from electroclash to minimal to dubstep.
The field is playing live @ great scott in Alston on monday the 16th of july.
Then there is the theatre district, which is far more comercial clubs such as rumor and venu
Finaly there is a few summer boat parties that are sick, Bump hosts a boat party late july that is totaly out of control www.marzentertainment.com - Rise also has one, but i don't know the details.
I hope this is usefull to you! I do encourage that you go check out NYC from time to time beacuse it is better, but boston still has something to offer.

Come again??
Thanks for all advice so far guys, appreciate it.
One thing I'd like to know is your definition of a so-called meathead.
@ingy6969: sounds good actually! I like detroit techno, minimal and all related styles. My sister doesn't like it that much, but that's her problem. She'll be there for 6 months, I (me?) just one week :p
