Hey guys, I'm looking for a new Anti-virus and don't know which one should I get. I currently have Norton that came with my laptop but it will expire in a month. So what's good?
Thanks |

| Uninstall and reinstall, then call Norton and tell them you just bought it on ebay or something and they will give you a new key good for one more year. I did that last year ;) |

| I bought Norton 2007 from www.buy.com a few weeks ago. It was $45 with a $45 mail in rebate for a Visa gift card, so essentially it was free. It seems pretty good, though if you don't have enough memory it does noticeably slow down your system. I would check Buy.com every once in a while to see if they have the same deal again. |

You should get a Mac. :p
j/k, Norton Antivirus + Firewall have worked well for me, as well as my roomate for the past several years. I'd recommend it. |

| I have norton but I continued to have spyware problems so I added SpywareDetector . I got their free download and it found a ton of stuff Norton missed. I upgraded to enable the program to remove all that junk and I have been spyware free. It updates automatically and the scans are pretty unobtrusive. I think the best defense is a varied one! |

Not true. I said,

Anyway, I agree with Sheila about using more than one program. We also use Ad-Aware and Spybot, which are both free. |

NOD32 is excellent and it updates automatically all day. (big plus)
PS. there isnt a virus yet written for Vista. :wtf: |

Yep...also you can go to www.tri-statefairs.com and go to a computer show and pick up norton 2007 for $25...They sell the software's that some with systems without the systems at discount. It's totally legit. I bought mine there as well, and countless other programs too. |

i manage to get by without running anything but if i'm fixing a friends pc or i ever suspect a problem on my pc i use the trial versions of AVG antivirus, and AVG antispyware (both are free) and i think they free trial lasts a while.
Having both always running on your system may slow down the system slighty so you could for example have just the anti-virus running and then load up the antispyware one once a month for a scan. |
