Secret Window was ok, but i coulndt get into it as "Identity" came out first and both movies shared similar theme. |
really? i thought 'Identity' took the theme from 'And then there were none' (which if you watch the original movie of this book, it's really good). I enjoyed 'Identity' to an extent, but felt the movie was too short. |

if i'd seen Secret Window before Identity i'd probably be saying the same about Identity. |

Mentioned this flick in the COR Movie Thread.
Loved it.

That scene where he tries to go over to the next room, via window, and he notices that his room is the only one on the floor, scared the bajeezus out of me.

| Definitely one of the best 'ghost'(I'm using that term loosely) movies made since 'The Others'. |

If you've ever read Danse Macabre, you'd know that King knows to classify his stories as such utilizing particular recurring themes throughout literature derived from 3 primary archetypes; one such subtype stems from tales of hauntings and ghosts and supernatural horror rather than unknown/horror within/penetrative erotic intrigue(gore). I know it's not a 'ghost' movie, but the frightening aspect of the film dealt with horrors of the past and, ultimately, a sort of maddening threat to sanity when confined by the afterlife. I'd say the most absolutely horrific proposal in this film (considering that there are different 'levels' of horror) was when his hour in the room was finally complete, but the presence there instead just started the timer over again - as though we knew that the supernatural afterlife the story was proposing included a sort of maddening redundancy in its pursuit of the author's and the viewer's soul/sanity. I guess this could very well just be my opinion though. |

yup, completely agreed. you can interperet the way you want to but the repetitiveness of what you fear is spot on..
"you can choose to repeat the hour over and over again or choose our express checkout system"

Yeah it was. I'm not a fan of most horror flicks simply because most of the time all they're trying to do is be bloody and get you to jump. 1408 actually ed with your mind a little bit; I started getting claustrophobic watching it (I never get claustrophobic) and kind of felt like I was in his shoes and just wanted to off myself to end it all. Great film in that regard, and I'd love to see more horror flicks that with your head like that. |

How similar is it to the short story? I just realized 1408 was in Everything's Eventual and read it about a week ago. I have difficulty seeing a full length movie coming out of it.
Obviously, the best adaptation title is on hold until the Dark Tower films/series comes out, do ye ken? ;) |
