8:30 Thursday on ABC. followed by a debate between the writer of the documentary and lateline's tony jones, in my opinion the best journalist on australian television.
im not promoting junk-science's denial, i'm just not very familiar with the other side's arguments on global warming, so think it's worth a look. mostly i wanna see tony jones destroy the documentary maker afterwards, he rocks my world.
either way, should be interesting for those of you interested in the fate of the planet. |

I intend to watch it.
Hopefully I won't get too exasperated and start yelling at the TV. Even when you know that someone's opinions are generally regarded as horse sh1t, it's difficult to not get aggravated. |

| Damn I wish I had watched this now. Dad came into my room and told me it was on and just went "meh, it will be a load of dribble anyway". Probably was but I didn't know there would be a debate. I like debates :( |

And haven't watched it yet (or the documentary itself, for that matter), but here's a lecture responding to the points made in that documentary:

Global warming is just a consequence from the sun's activity only? I honestly believe we are speeding up the process.
*If it was the sun's influence: the stratosphere and troposphere would have heated up extensively but they have actually cooled down recently.
*The sun's power rose during much of the 20th century, but it has actually declined over the past two decades.
*The average rate of change is one degree or so per thousand years (millenium) but in recent times it has been documented that the earth has heated up a few degrees in just a century which is unchartered territory for us.
All we need is a few volcanos to go off. They inject sulfur into the stratosphere which in turn have cooled down the planet as much as 0.5C the following year in previous times. Yeah it varies but they say manually injecting sulfur into the stratosphere could be a possible cure to global warming.
but wtf do i know. just my thoughts :) |
