Random fact, I live less than a minute from where it's being built.

Drove by the plant on my way home from work yesterday. They had cops alongside the road so I couldn't get out to look at it but just driving by it it looked really sweet. I'll probably try and watch it when it first takes off.

I ing hate Lancairs :p

I also used to fly, and also stopped because it was too damn expensive.

Airbus lost the fight on this one. The gamble... that people would be doing more hub-to-hub traveling so they spent a couple pennies on the development of the A380. Boeing bet on smaller, more direct flights, and judging by the amount of orders, Boeing won. The A380 is a novelty at best.

do the numbers signify anything (747 passengers?) or are they just model numbers?

i think originally they did but in recent years they havent.

edit//for probably 20years they havent.
Clovis
The model numbers havn't anything to do with the planes really. Just boing has been using 7's in their model numbers for years.

B-52
B-47
707 etc
