well. basically, i was treated so awesomely... my kids will drink redbull from their baby bottles as soon as i have any.
it was, the most, single, awesomest experience of my life. yes, i know awesomest is not a word. i am making it a word.
aside from being with the like minded individuals that were the other participants, the staff was just awesome, the "tutors" were awesome, and most of the lecturers kicked ass too.
tutors:
Mark Pritchard of Warp Records fame, and his bajillion projects
Steve Spacek, who has a bajillion projects as well
Waajeed, producer for a bunch of famous soul/hip hop people, including DeAngelo
Marco Passarini, who is just plain awesome
Theo Parrish, who should need no introduction
we got awesome lectures from awesome lecturers, such as:
Alex Barck of Jazzanova/Sonar Kollektiv
Steve Beckett, founder of Warp
Superpitcher
Ron Trent
Tony Allen, basically the best drummer ever to live
George Stravopolous, the worlds premier club soundsystem engineer
Russ Elevado, one of the worlds highest ranked studio mixers/engineers
Jazzy Jay, read up on Afrika Bambataa if you need know about this man
IG Culture, basically he is Mr. Broken Beat
Nottz, produced for everyone from Snoop Dogg to Kanye
and a bunch others
to top it off, the last day, we got a remix workshop with none other than Carl Craig, we he actually started to remix a track Mark, Steve and some of the participants had made, and we actually got to sit next to Carl and remix it with him.
the academy itself was a bunch of studios geared for different applications, from recording and jamming livebands, to full on synthetics, to DJing. Red Bull BUILT the place specifically for us, they even gave us a picture CD with the documented building process.
we had a gear room, where you could sign out everything from a Rolan 808 Drum Machine to a new Mac Laptop.
they took us ona field trip to niagra falls.
the hotel they set us up in, The Gladstone, ing owns. we had the last 2 floors, and they set us up with a party room, complete with decks, monitors, and an unlimited supply of booze.
everyone was awesome. everything was awesome. you are awesome. i am awesome. all hail the crimson bull! ill have pics up soon i think, so if you're interested, just say so. |

The only thing that made it worthwhile was the bitch out front crying with a bleeding nose, pleading with the bouncer to do something about the guy that hit her, lol.
She was out there for like, 15 minutes acting like a total douchebag...and my friend (Kristine) muttered something as we walked away. So the chick was like, "What the did you say??" So I turned around and said, "You earned it!" Lololololol! |

| Ron, that sounds absolutely incredible. To be honest, it surprises me that Red Bull got such "obscure" (for lack of a better word referring to people who aren't pop stars) artists for it. Really makes me want to give the competition a go next time around. |

^That has got to be the worst design for a logo EVER. Whichever graphic designer chose the type was probably having a good time with his left hand. In case anyone doesnt know what i mean by this, the logo looks more like ' Off'

Opposition parties are blasting the Ontario government for supporting a campaign aimed at getting young people to cut energy use and suggestively titled "Flick Off."
Launched Wednesday by Environment Minister Laurel Broten and British billionaire Richard Branson, the tongue-in-cheek campaign alludes to a four-letter word and the logo uses a typeface that makes the capital letters "L" and "I" look like a "U."
The campaign's website uses such phrases as "Go flick yourself," and "Are we flicked?"
On the homepage, a call to action says: "We need you to FLICK OFF, and tell everyone you know to FLICK OFF. The more you do it, the cooler it gets. The planet, that is."
NDP critic Peter Kormos says the government's endorsement of the campaign will anger parents concerned about the use of foul language by their children.
"It's silly, it's embarrassing, and clearly it's an ad agency that has a bunch of flickin' amateurs as employees," said Kormos.
Progressive Conservative Leader John Tory echoed Kormos's sentiments, though not as strongly.
"I say it's a bad judgment," said Tory. "It shouldn't be done this way. There are plenty of ways to educate kids without using language like this."
Broten said she sees nothing wrong with the government's endorsement of a campaign encouraging people to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
"It's a suitable website for youth. It's a campaign directed at youth," she said.
Others backing the campaign include Environmental Defence, MuchMusic, Roots Canada and Virgin Mobile.
Branson, founder of the Virgin empire and an airline tycoon, has already promised millions to fight global warming.
As part of the campaign, a cross-Canada challenge will be launched in coming weeks awarding a music festival to the city or community that cuts its emissions most per capita over the summer months.
