How's Dallas for house music? I heard there is some good stuffing coming from there.
Re: Toronto, unfortunately, Ontario's proximity (both physicall and socially) to American culture causes it to adapt rules such as carding for alcohol, etc.
Be glad you are not in Cleveland. Just in one week, we've had
1. Someone open fire in the clubbing district, killing one and injuring 4 others.
2. Someone run into a suburban mcdonalds and murdering an employee for sleeping with his wife. SWAT team antics ensued.
3. A 2 year old (while in its mothers arms) and a 6 year old shot randomly by a bunch of guys aiming at someone else while driving down the street. The kids survived.
4. A firefighter went nuts on his neighbors for shooting off fireworks, killing one and injuring 4 others.
5. And just last night, a Cleveland police officer chase his wife down the street and shooting at her (she survived with one bullet wound), before turning the gun on himself.
All of this, and more, in only one week.
Toronto and Montreal look much the same after living here in "Little Detroit". |

^^Isnt Montreal technically closer to the american border than toronto? Last time I checked Toronto was 100km from the NF border and even more from buffalo........
..... so the above statement is irrelveant because montreal has not adapted the "american culture." (I know some of you will insert "thank GOD!!" here)
PS: That you just said about cleveland is pretty bad, considering the size of the city. I was gonna say something sarcastic like "that happens in nyc everyday" but then thought to myself that NYC has 12 million + people living in it. |

Yes, Montreal is physically closer to the U.S. border, but it seems remote from any large population base because all of upstate NY/ vermont is rural. On the other hand, Toronto 4 hrs from many of the cities surrounding great lakes and the province of Ontario is the most active province with regard to trade with the U.S.
Sorry to get off topic, but NYC is actually one of the safest cities in the U.S. now. Crime rates in Cleveland (per capita) are much much higher. I think Detroit is the worst, then Baltimore (yikes), then Cleveland. Philly is up there too but at least there is Center City which is half decent.
At least Cleveland has a few decent house venues you can go to on the weekends, where some local veteran house djs play (till 230). We also have the occasional headliner (Marcus Shultz in July/ Digweed in August). Philly and Baltimore, by comparison, have practically nothing, at least to my knowledge.
Finally though, I miss Montreal! |
