| I have a korg micro x and cubase sx3. i have attached a usb cable from my korg to my comp, and a midi cable out from my synth into my comp. but the problem is that i cannot hear any of my synth sounds on cubase. it shows that the keys are played on the vst, and both green and red lines move when i play keys, yet no sound. any suggestions please! |

| I saw in your post no mention of audio from the synth to your computer... |

| yes, you are correct. do i need audio i/o if i am using all midi? |

| MIDI is a an instructional protocol only. It only sends messages for things like key-presses, knobs, buttons, etc. Your synth receives these note/controller messages, does its magic, then outputs audio. You're currently just giving it instructions. Now you need to grab the audio with an interface at the same time you're sending the instructions and record it. |

| so basically just connect the audio from the synth to the comp? do you think i have to change any settings? |

Didn`t he say USB ?
also, if there werent any audio the red lines would not appear. |

| ...as long as you have some kind of audio interface with low latency. For settings as far as Cubase goes, you'll have to wait till a forum member that uses Cubase to help you, or read your manual. |

| yea i have a usb from synth to computer. it looks like everything works, just without audio. the red line moves and i see notes marked on the midi sequencer but still no audio. |

| does the microx do what the Virus TI does? (integral audio deal) |

| dunno. i know it loads a vst onto the computer. but im not sure if the sound bank is on my harddrive or if its still used from my synth. i have yet to try the audio cable today though. so ill let you know. |

Ok, I'm goign to try and guess on this one:
The Korg MicroX only transmits midi over it's USB port. No audio.
So for starters, there is no point having both a USB and a mid cable connected if they are doing the same job.
As 3F05Q has said, midi data is not sound.
Connect a couple of 1/4" jacks from the Main Output L/R into your soundcard/mixer/audio interface.
Fire up Cubase, and play, any audio?
If not, try pressing "F4", you probably need to change your audio settings in Cubase, and is your soundcard properly configured?
Report back. |

In Cubase, you have both a "Midi In" (Red) and a "Midi Out" (Green) indicator on your transport bar. |
