Career crash

Hey guys,
as you might know I had a residency at this mainstream club in my hometown trying to make the crowd like EDM a little bit with some edm remixes of pop tunes etc...
doesn't matter, I think I've built quite a crowd of fans going to every show every week...
Now the owner's mind just got ed up or something, on one of the gigs he told me he'll pay me next time because he has to go home (he looked pretty sick) so I was like ok no problem (well because I was at the club for about 7 months now) and then the same thing happend at the next one...
The last problem actually made me cut the contacts with the club (still owing me for 2 gigs), because I planned my own night for like 3 months, had a date reserved for the club...guest DJs travelled from the other end of czech republic and ...and the ing owner didn't show up at all and left us all waiting in front of the club without keys! I phoned him and he said something like he's stuck on highway and such bull...he told me he should make it there in an hour...so we opened the van of my friends and started some music from there...people danced on the parking lot and everything was ok...then he phoned again he won't make it...what an IDIOT! Then even the city cops came...and the party was finished :(
...I just wanted to vent this...sorry guys:-/ |

| You did what you could. owners will be owners no matter what you do, but at least you are still looking good after this fiasco w/ the impromptu car party. |

Seriously though dude, this could be a career opportunity rather than a crash. I'm not sure where you're located, so I don't know what the club scene is like. But, you have already proven your ability to not only DJ well but also promote events well and bring people to the club, which makes the club owner more money. So, you can take this experience and go to a bigger club and ask for more money. All the people who came to your gigs at the old club will probably still want go to your events, so presents immediate income potential for the new club. |

| it wouldn't be a nightclub without a drugged out, corrupt owner. |

Yeah, that's not a career crash, that's just a mark of time to move on.
I've lost count of the number of times club owners and promoters have ed me off, just have to get on with it - find another club/promoter, start a new night or whatever... until that one goes up, then move on again. |

nah it isn't this club is in Jihlava a city in the south with about 50k inhab.
But if you were in "Solidni nejistota" while you were in Prague you had seen an exact copy :D
well...I think it is a "crash" sort of...well there are events around sometimes but no club that would continously play EDM, so no residency :-/
Some of the other club owners know that my nights can bring people to club but they (for one reason or another) don't want EDM in theirs...
not that this wasn't a mainstream club...just that the others are strictly mainstream :-/ which is what sucks...
ok ... well
end of rant haha
let's party :p |

Well in that case maybe it's time to start your own night... if there definitely isn't anything else around. It can be quite a big project to undertake, but start small and go from there.
I'm sure there will be a bar or something SOMEWHERE which will let you take over the music for a night (might have to be during the week) if you persuade them you'll be able to bring in some people to spend money at the bar. |
