Roasts take those three flavor varieties and add varieties of darkness to it. The lighter roasts last longer and the darkest are too burnt. There is a middle ground where the oils and carmelization are tasty and that is when you decide on what type of coffee you want.
there is acidity levels and all that crap that are all about how long it sticks to your tongue. A lot of these go into food pairings but you need to just decide on a light coffee you can drink all day or a morning coffee you have with your bacon and eggs or a dessert coffee you have with some pie.
The thing is decide what the function is and there are only a few coffees that are decent that will suit that.
Gotta know what you want out of it and how much of the coffee flavor you like. |

anyone recommend a national brand that is good to have for coffee served all day long. i really don't want to have one blend for the morning and another for the afternoon. or something to acidic or something not acidic enough. something right in the middle in every possible distinguishing characteristic. something that coffee snobs will won't look down upon and something that the average joe will be willing to buy.
from what i can gather, i should probably buy whole beans and grind them. preground beans just lose flavor? |
