im new to trance as to many of you who were listenin in in its infant years. So I really dont know what "pure trance" is
on the J00F thread people were saying its alot different from nowadays poppish mainstream trance. not a big roller coaster ride like nowadays songs with buildup after buildup and breakdowns after breakdowns.
the structure being different and just melody ontop of melody
can anyone give me some direction to some pure trance songs (new and old pls)
without any incluences from electro, house, etc
just barebone trance
(some new pure trance would be good too thx) |

your list is all modern trance man. i think he's referring to some of the late 80's-1993 stuff.

| Yeah, that list is very misleading. Just a lot of typical melodic trance. |

Maybe you should ask John00Fleming himself about what he define as real trance! He is only expressing his point of view, some people agree and some don't. There is trancy music outside the trancegenre aswell, don't forget that ;)
In my oppnion when i think "real trance" i think stuff like THIS!
This is stuff from the very early 90s, you hear by the patterns and structure it's very trancey in the feeling.
This is an element wich some people feel is lost with todays trance music. If refering to the J00F-post i think he means that these elements (the hypnotic energy feeling) can still be found in the psy trance and amongst close related subgenres.
I recently discovered this track on beatport
Nuclear Ramjet - Minas Tirith 425 (Lone Rider Remix)
Be sure to check it out, i find it quality :) |

| They were probably thinking about classic trance, because it's the purest form of trance out there. Repetitive, ethereal and hypnotic music without supersaws, big buildups and dramatic breakdowns. So if you want something like that check out stuff from Eye Q (Brainchild, Sven Vath, Earth Nation), MFS (Cosmic Baby, Effective Force), Superstition (L.S.G., Microglobe, Marmion), Le Petit Prince (Caucasuss, Nikolai, Microwave Prince), Psy Harmonics (Third Eye, Mystic Force) and some Harthouse stuff. |

There's no such thing as pure trance.
Not one song or one style can define the whole genre, since trance borrows and complements other genres. You can't have trance that hasn't ever before received contribution from other areas of electronic dance music.
John 00 Flemming was just arguing that 95% of trance is poor quality, in my interpretation. |
