Am desperate to watch a good movie, and the stuff that's coming out nowadays just doesn't cut it. Recommend some good movies to watch?
I'd prefer them to be either :
1. Sci-fi 2. Sport movie 3. Courtroom drama

Watch 'Sunshine', i thought it was quite good mate.

sci-fi:
Primer
quote:
Four friends/fledgling entrepreneurs, knowing that there's something bigger and more innovative than the different error-checking devices they've built, wrestle over their new invention.

Definitely my favorite science fiction film (concerns time travel). As the movie progresses, it gets very complicated, so take notes! At some points, it's very smart (the two vehicles outside the storage for members of each timeline, you'll see...) and those moments are what make it shine.

i've also had a knack to rewatch:
Cube
quote:
7 complete strangers of widely varying personality characteristics are involuntarily placed in an endless kafkaesque maze containing deadly traps.

because it's true, mathematics is your best friend!

Have seen Cube, Cube2 and Cube3 of which only the first one actually impressed me. Primer looks very interesting. Will check that out too. Thanks

'Der Untergang' is one that few people have seen but is quite good. Also, 'The Wind that Shakes the Barley' is definitely worth watching.

Some sadist has actually recommended the movie Red Room to me. Japanese film with English subtitles.

A short summary on imdb

"Red Room" series is clearly inspired by the reality TV craze.Four people are locked in a large 'red room' with a jail cell like structure in one corner. They play a card game(consisting of four cards only)where it appears the winner of each game gets to choose which two players enter the cage and what they do with/to each other in the time allowed..."Red Room" has the production values of a porn film and indeed it looks to have been produced(or at least distributed)by some Adult Video company. The film is filled with scenes of extreme sadism, humiliation, gore, sexual violence and cruelty for example one guy is made to screw one of the ladies with a lightbulb and gets a little mad, shoving it too far inside her and shattering it.She passes out from the excruciating pain whilst pissing a river of blood across the floor...So if you are seeking an alternative to the "Guinea Pig" series give "Red Room" a look. The sequel is even nastier and sicker,so be prepared.

added to this, there are dares where the guy has to the dead woman, another woman has to smash the guys head while he 's tied to a chair, etc etc.. What kind of people watch/make/like these kind of pointless retarded films?

Guinea Pig and the state-side August Underground series seem to be more into promoting their costume/make-up effects. People who can watch them all the way through, hats off to them. I've read about scenes from August Underground, but I didn't really have to go too far in the original Guinea Pig to say, "Yeah, that looks pretty real." I think the idea makes a lot of people want, to at least, sneak a peak.
