Amazing photos. You guys look so chill. Haha.
While treeplanting in Northern Ontario one summer a few years back, a buddy and I had a mama black bear and cub sneak up and surprise us. I gotta tell ya, we weren't nearly as relaxed as you guys looked....:nervous: The first thing that crossed my mind was "I am faster than Gary, and if I am faster, and I run, they will catch him, eat him first, and I can get away." :haha:
Did you guys and your guide (assuming you had one) have rifles, or bear spray, or some other deterrent? |
Our guide is the one sitting next to me on the boat, taping the whole thing. No rifle, no bear spray, nothing. He asks me if i have my camera. I said yes and ask why. He tells me to turn around and i nearly my pants. My hand was shaking taking those photos. He reassured me that the cub was a yearling and free of its mother so it eased the tension a little.
About 20 min later we see this

| I LOVE fishing. I've only ever fished on the St Lawrence River (where I grew up), so mostly for muskie, bass, stuff like that. When I was younger we lived on our boat for the summers, so we would fish every day. I miss that a lot !! I think it would be really fun to go fishing in the ocean sometime, just to see all the different types of fish you can catch that differ from Canada. |

If Swamper had a sense of humour, he'd edit everyone's posts here for maximum hilarity. |

:eyes: wow those are some sexy fish you have there! :eyes: Ever take a trip up Devil's Hole, in the lower Niagara River in the fall for kings??
I've been fishin the mouth of Lake Erie a couple mornings a week, and have been catching the yellow pike pretty consistantly. Today we got 2 nice ones. I will follow up with a couple pictures in a bit. |

Yah all on a fly. The Kings on a 10-11 weight, 15' spay rod, using a decent size purple egg sucking leech fly. The Sockeyes on a 7 weight, 9' fly with a streamer fly. The sockeyes were actually snagged, which is is legal and the only way to catch them. They don't attack the fly so you hav to snag them in or around the mouth area. Its not fishing as far as i'm concerned, and i would never keep one caught that way, but we had some time to kill before our flight back so we played around with it.
I have heard of the Devil's Hole but never fished it. We usually fish the fall run on the PM in Michigan but i'd like to check this spot out if i'm around in Sept. |

you caught those bad boys on a weight? man that must have been fun!
Devil's Hole is worth checking out, although you donnot catch the fish on a fly. There you are drifting eggs (skein) on the bottom.
annnyyway, do any other kinds of fishin? |
