considering they weren't showing up in any of the libraries in San Diego, I'd have to side with him. |

Buy them, get them copied and leave them in front of every library in San Diego, asking readers to return to the improvised shelf after reading.

A Clockwork Orange was one of the best books i've ever read. talk about an awesome mind. and way better than the movie.
in reality, anyone who is concerned about what "evil" really is, should read that book. |

I'd say the essential question to that book is "what makes one good?" but one can also see into the darkside of human nature as well in reading that book. Truly a shocking book especially for the time it was written.
I thought the movie was a good adaptation of the book and was entertaining nonetheless but was lacking in certain areas. Film as a medium is however limited in adapting a book so I still think Kubrik did a great job. |

of course there is hardly anything controversial in 1984.
when 1984 came out the american government WANTED americans to read it because it came out during the cold war right? When it was released it was clearly a warning about the soviets. It has an unhappy ending for a reason you know. It ended with the government defeating the protagonist because it was warning that if you let a dictator take over, it will be too late to stop them no matter how strong an individuals will is.
Now american bans it.
Why?
because now the american government is becoming fascist. American government is listening to your phone calls etc. People use the term "Big Brother" now adays without even knowing what book it references, and what roll big brother played in the book. 1984 now warns against the american government, rather than the soviet.
ps i this is just a conspiracy theory, and i dont even have proof that america has infact banned 1984. Infact I really doubt they did, or any state, because i can't imagine them doing it without a giant media frenzy. That book is a ing classic. |

John O Callaghan & Kearney - Exactly (Original Mix)
It always gives me a chuckle when I ask someone what it means. "I guess it's like your older sibling going through your porn stash." No no no!
But yeah, it's seriously amazing it's embedded itself in our world. Hell, Orwellian is a word now with it's own definition with little reference to the author.
My only guess is that with every chain of command, comes a human who sits at the top who might have been appointed for his budgeting experience and not his political motivations that might lurk beneath. |
