yeah i wish they were around here... i think they only occur around the midwestern states |

They occur everywhere in conjunction with strong thunderstorm cells. It is harder to see in a urban setting, and often missed due to rain obscuration.
Check this out from wiki in Australia
And Stace, Ohio could be considered part of the absolute extreme midwest, but the 'midwest' would be considered more towards the nebraska kansas area. |

I took this one. Three years in the making it was.... stayed up till 3am one night after reports of thunderstorms. We very rarely get them here (once in three years...) but I was damn determined to get a shot of it. It wont win awards, its not that impressive but it was good to finally get it :D
Had power cuts that night too and saw lightning hit a telephone pole down the garden that blew up our entire telephone system :whip:
