| I'm starting to play around with sweeping (for buildups, downlifts, etc), and I was just wondering - other than the white noise whoosh, what sounds are good starting points for making an uplifting, trancey sweep? Also, how do I go about modulating the sweep to get it just right for the buildups? Thanks. |

I've seen it done in Logic Pro using ocean noises (i.e., waves), but never tried it for myself.

Add in some filter and light flanger automation. Tweak. Re-tweak. Re-re-tweak. |

| well...ocean noises (waves) are...almost white-noise...arent they? i mean whenever I tried to replicate waves and sea sounds...I always used white noise |

| yeah with white noise and common synthesizer parameters you can mimic pretty much any ocean/wind sound you want. |

Ocean waves are a little harder than just white noise IMO, just using white noise sounds a little fake.
Producers seem to have their own signature sound a lot of the time, like BT has the sound of rain, chicane (and others) use the sound of the ocean, someone else uses wind (forget who...) but it gives a nice consistency to a record and adds a nice ambience.
And now for the million dollar question: does anyone have any of these sort of samples?:D |

Search for 'sweep' 'noise sweep' etc. A few starters there it seems. (I would have just linked to the search results, but it doesn't appear in the address bar.) |
