mp3 tagging question

Hey guys, maybe you can help me out with this question

so I have upwards of 3k-4k mp3s all without years. When I was ripping from my Vinyl, I only decided to put the artist - title over the years.. Not a smart idea... What I need is a program that will search discogs for each mp3 and grab the right year for the track, that's all. Artist - Title is all correct just have missing years. Does anyone know of a program?

Dude, that functionality is pretty damn specific. I doubt such a thing exists out-of-the-box. Plus, Discogs does not currently expose their database or XML feeds; so searching for tracks, finding a match, and grabbing the year is not as simple as it may seem. Someone could code something like this from scratch, but it would be dodgy at best and so cumbersome that you as might as well do it manually.

haha yeah I know it's pretty specific, right clicking 4 thousand times and googling each tune.... Just not worth it for only organization unless a program can do it for me. Thanks for the reply though.

i mean there are id3 programs that let you edit the year pretty quickly (as in not having to right click>properties every single track). but to find something to figure out the years for you and put it in automatically is pretty complicated and my guess is it does not exist. :sadgreen:
