well that sucks. good to know though! i would have given the mugger a phony pin anyway just so he'd risk the chance of appearing on someone's cameras. |

| im actually quite paranoid about getting jacked when I come to LA. I always park in the lot by the club. Its way safer, and I am usually with other people. Normally I only bring my credit card and ID with me and leave my wallet in the car. My phone and camera however I am pretty paranoid about getting stolen. Ugh this makes me sick to my stomach. Everybody be careful when you go out. |

Just one more reason why I avoid Hollywood clubs! |

| Hope you are ok dude! You feel totally helpless in a situation like that . I had that happen to me in public at a gas station and the people who witnessed it just got in their cars and bailed. I worry for our promoters everyday of the week, its dangerous out there and you just never know when this will happen to you. |

All the cops are at west sunset trying to catch drunk drivers while checking up babes.
Thieves cost money to state, traffic violations bring money. |

| here's how i would deal with the situation in the future... muggers are opportunists. if you give them the opportunity to approach you safely and predictably, they will strike because they are comfortably in control of the situation. if you think about it from their perspective, even though they have the gun and are premeditating an attack on you, they are still nervous about carrying it out and getting away clean. in the back of their mind they don't know if you're armed, a cop or willing to fight back and that uncertainty right before they contact you is the only advantage you have. so if you're heading back to your car after the club and you see some shady character in your path, do something uncommon, unpredictable, even irrational. like run to your car with a cell phone to your ear talking to someone or pretending to as if you're busy, distracted, in a rush and didn't even notice him. say something audibly that suggests others are meeting up with you like 'yeah i'm almost there, who all is with you?'. you can even yell into your phone like you're pissed off and unwilling to take from anyone. people like this don't make very good targets. the mugger will analyze this type of person and many will probably not be comfortable enough to engage him or her. the whole mugging is based upon having the opportunity to get close enough to ask you for your money in a discreet manner where you the victim are short on options. they sound like they are professionals and not strung out methheads desperate enough to try and stop a running person on the phone by flashing a gun out in the open and yelling threats. if you see someone down the street approaching you, try crossing the street while you're at a distance still. if he follows, turn around and run back the other way before he can even begin to threaten you. flag a cab down and pay him a dollar to take you back to your car. don't let the potential mugger get the upperhand by allowing him to issue the threat. if you're being targetted and you slip out of the mugger's range before he's even revealed his intentions, i highly doubt he's gonna just start firing off a gun. these are just some techniques i use when walking down sketchy streets and allies in sf as i run into all kinds of seedy characters not in their right mind. most of them are harmless and just want money, cigarettes, food or weed from me, so i've been able to play with ways of approaching and passing them in ways where they don't even bother asking. |

EXACTLYYYYYYYYYY! This type of crap doesn't happen in Canada, at least not that I know of. And I LIVE in Hollywood, just blocks away from where all this stuff happened! |
I don't know why some of you choose to live in Hollywood, it's a flat out DISGUSTING city! I understand that some of you have work in that hellish town but why have the desire to live in Hollywood? Live in a town that's 10-20 minutes away that isn't so dirty, crime-strickened and fake. |
