Now how is Drew going to hold up in certain situations that Bob has handled so eloquently?

Yeah, it won't be the same, but who else could they have picked? (not a rhetorical question; I'm interested to hear people's ideas)

I can't think of anyone.

anythign is better than rosie. i can just imagine how she would just tank on that show.

drew will do well i think. he can make funny remarks and jokes so it should be ok.

Others who have auditioned include "CBS Early Show" weatherman David Price, "Entertainment Tonight" co-host Mark Steines, Mario Lopez (saved by the bell), George Hamilton, John O'Hurley, Todd Newton, Mark Kriski of L.A.'s "KTLA Morning News" and, most recently, Ian Ziering (beverly hills 90210)

argh mario lopez would've been the worst. same with the guy from 90210. and doesn't john o'hurley already host family fued? im not even going to mention all the other no names of the local shows.

i think george hamilton would've been ok out of that bunch. im sure he would be great with all the old seniors who watch the show.

I think Drew Carey is a good choice...

he's quick/witty, has experience hosting a game show (the American version of Who's Line...) and has a non-offensive personality/demeanour.

No one can 'replace' Bob Barker...and Drew would be dumb to try to emulate him. I'm sure he'll put his own spin on the role, while maintaining the spirit of what Bob brought to the show.

What's funny is that Drew Carey is still around. I remember an interview from many years ago, just when the Drew Carey Show was taking off. He was asked about his future plans or something...he said that he'd make his money, then disappear and go live on an island somewhere and never be heard from again. The interviewer laughed. Drew said something to the effect of 'and people think I'm joking when I say that too'.

I guess not! :D

(Rosie would have been awful...no offense, but she's a lightening rod for negativity these days, lol)

How about Regis Philbin? Wayne Brady? Matt LeBlanc? Tiesto?

I would love to see Jeremy Piven do it, but that would be the rated R version of PiR.

Maybe they are trying to attract a new younger demographic.
As we know, most old 'geezers' will be dead in 5-10 years.

Does Drew Carey have a mass appeal to the Baby Boomer generation?

I personally don't think Drew is a great fit. He's a nice and very funny guy, but he doesn't really seem to fit the mold of as a PIR host.

I may check it in the Fall and see how he is, but I haven't watched the PIR in a while!
