Does anyone else have an affinative passion or taste for this style of music?
i swear, when i first found out about dnb, i almost cried in frustration and anger at people around me and my friends, blaming them for the fact i could never have been told about it, and i actually had to go about and discover it myself. i sorta felt cheated since im 20.. and could have enjoyed it for many yrs previously. im sorta just getting over it now..
btw my taste still goes very much TRANCE then Drum N Bass then house..
:tongue3 |

hmm i dont know.. although ive been listening to house/electro in clubs for a few yrs. i officially only been actually into edm since january.. which was when i developed a strong definitive passion for trance, anywhere up to 15-18 hrs a day for months.. sorta like catch up. hell addicted pretty much :P then i came across dnb.. and then last month psy.... so pretty much im a newbie :D
i just dont see anyone posting bout dnb here..?
to me thou, the dnb sound or concept is overwhelming, and sometimes i think i like it more than trance, which scares me. i came across it actually in a live performance of london elektricity. and i remember just going to my mate... "this is freakin nuts what is it!"1 i looked em up and it led from their. |

| Not really. There are a few tracks I like, but as a genre the sound never really grabbed me, and the culture/scene around it kind of turns me off. |

If you tried to tell half the rave kids in Wisconsin that Drum & Bass and Jungle were the same genre they'd pop your figs right quickly.
:p |

heh ye i read it up on wiki to get more info on it.. and it pretty much classified jungle as when it first came out, and dnb as a collective later on.. however their are SOME people who will tell you their is a differnece..
and i guess the culture might b a bit dodge.. i only seen it live that once.. and now i think back, im not sure half the ppl knew what they were listening to or were on something. all my learning and listening has been at home.. and work.. |

I love d&b (jungle not that much), especially the older stuff from labels such as 31 Records, Hospital Records, Metalheadz, No U-Turn and guys like Peshay, Klute, London Elektricity, Photek, Adam F...
New stuff is cool too (High Contrast, Matrix, Nu:Tone, Rufige Kru), but I listen to oldies most of the time |

| Hehe, there are lots of folks here who listen to d&b (there is one guy who'll recommend you everything by Ed Rush & Optical, don't listen to him:p), and we already had a couple of d&b threads this month, so don't worry, you're not alone... |

nice, cheers sljiva. im feeling alot better :D
btw, are you able to clarify or clear up difference between jungle and dnb for me? |

Well, drum & bass evolved from jungle, just like psy trance evolved from goa. Jungle started in early 90-ies (around 1991), and it draws influences from ragga, dancehall and reggae. Listen to some Hyper On Experience, Phuture Assasins, Blame or Noise Factory if you're interested in that sound. It sometimes sound like oldschool breakbeat hardcore...
Drum & Bass came around 1994 (4 Hero's Parallel Universe is said to be the first d&b album), and it sounds more sophisticated than jungle. There are no ragga vocals and the beats are simplier
I'll post some samples later if I find something... |
