| So I have this water bottle. About 2 weeks ago I cut a lemon in two and threw them in the bottle, and drank water out of it. Well I left the lemons in there for 2 days. And now the inside of the bottle smells like lemom and it makes the water taste like lemons! I've washed it with soap and water 3 times and its still as strong as ever. Any ideas on how to get rid of the lemon curse? |

if you have a dishwasher, try cleaning it in there. otherwise try cleaning it with water and baking soda. some plastic water bottles absorb scents worse than others... usually the cheaper ones are the worst.
if your water bottle isnt a Nalgene water bottle, i suggest you upgrade. |

Ok I tried, bleach, then vinegar, then milk, then another soap... and it just tastes like lemon again. Gonna try the baking soda and if that doesnt work, urine
I believe the limonene has literally bonded with the plastic. :( |

yeah, Nalgene for life. I have 1000ml one that I fill up at least 2 or 3 times a day. Gotta stay hydrated! :D

pour very hot water in the bottle. Put the cap back on, shake vigorously, drain, repeat.
the smell has to reduce. |
