[b]Groundbreaking New Sounds Coming In Under The Radar
‘DISCOTEKA’ hits #1 on Beatport
DJ MAG Top 100's Paul Oakenfold, Paul Van Dyk and DJ Dan
all get hot Starkillers remixes...
Every once in a while word starts spreading about a hot producer who is coming through under the radar, and the hot news this time around comes from the West Coast. This sensational producer, remixer and DJ is STARKILLERS aka NICK TERRANOVA. He bridges the gap between the House and Trance Worlds - with respected remix collaborations with international favorites ranging from funky House (DJ DAN) to soaring Trance (Paul Van Dyk and Paul Oakenfold). Starkillers is quickly moving up into the world’s handful of top creators of the sounds loved at dance floors worldwide.
Los Angeles based producer, DJ, and label owner Nick Terranova has been quickly making a name for himself as the mastermind producer behind such production names as Starkillers, Aftertouch, Terranova, Hi_Lo and Nick Touch - and anyone with an eye can see that his tracks are being charted everywhere. He’s taken the universal new electro house sound and fused it with NYC tribal beats, and then molded them into an explosive new style that he likes to call nasty, dirty, rockin’ electribe.
If you haven’t checked for Nick Terranova before now, it is pretty impossible to miss his hugely popular Starkillers “Discoteka.” Originally released on Holland’s Spinnin’ Records, it’s become such a big tune that it’s now licensed for release by Gusto in the UK, and Peter Rauhofer’s legendary Star 69 Records in the USA. This electro house tune has been destroying all dance floors for months now. It’s been an “Essential Tune” of the week on Pete Tong’s Essential Selection show on BBC Radio 1; entered at No.7 in the Cool Cuts Chart; been “Tried and Tested” and had more than 10 plays in a row from Judge Jules on his BBC Radio 1 show; hit Beatport’s sales chart at No.1 for three weeks; and has all the major DJs around the globe going crazy for it. If that isn’t enough, word is that the next Starkillers single “Scream” on Spinnin’ and Star 69 is going to be even bigger!
Another Nick Terranova production that has hit is on the giant underground label Tweek’d Records in New York City, Terranova feat Gina Martina “Electro ”. With such a saucy song title, you know you’re in for one hell of a sonic ride, and Nick certainly doesn’t disappoint. Pounding tribal beats, a sick bass-line and teasing lyrics that turn the dance floor into a porno inferno. This track is so intense that Jenna Jameson would have a tougher time rocking your world.
With form like this, it’s hardly surprising that one of the US’s hottest house labels, ULTRA Records, has commissioned Nick Terranova to remix Static Revenger’s “Round & Round” (Starkillers Remix), Serge Devant’s “Surround U” (Starkillers Remix) and John Creamer and Stephane K’s “Something To Loose” (feat. Nadia Ali & Rosco - Starkillers Remix). Star 69 Records is having Nick Terranova even remix one of their dance classics - House Heroes’ ‘Magic Orgasm.’
But there’s no time to rest on his laurels, as Nick Terranova has also been called in to do two remixes for the US power house label Made Records, reworking the infamous Jimmy James “Fashionista” track that is pricking up people’s ears everywhere right now, and then creating a killer Starkillers Remix of the massive dancefloor fave Iio – “Is This Love.” Nick has just completed his PAUL OAKENFOLD featuring Pharrel Williams "Sex and Money" (Terranova's Starkillers All Over Ur Face Mix,) DJ DAN’s ‘Rock To The Rhythm’ (Terranova’s Starkillers Remix), Dario Nunez & David Bio ‘My World’ (Terranova & Austin Leeds Remix) on Spain’s highly respected Stereo Productions with much more to come. Nick has also been collaborating with PAUL VAN DYK, with tracks coming soon. Paul Oakenfold, DJ Dan, and Paul Van Dyk are all on the reputable and respected DJ MAG Top 100…seems that Nick is fast coming into the International DJ hierarchy with good reason. Does this guy ever sleep?
It doesn’t look like it, because you can check out Nick’s own label Terratraxx (and offshoot label Tribaltraxx run with friend and music partner Austin Leeds) at www.terratraxx.com. Here you will find more of Terranova’s latest releases, including Terranova & Leeds’ “Freakshow”, “Shake Me”, and “Rock Me”, and the upcoming Terranova & Austin Leeds “Only You”. Right now Terratraxx is making quite a name for itself by continually appearing in the Top 10 of many dance charts globally, and with future releases set to include Terranova & Austin Leeds “For The Pills” & “Dirty Sound,” Kobbe & Terranova “Slave,” Terranova “Sexy Dirty,” and K.T.L. “The Fuzz” - this label is definitely one to watch.

It’s rare when the label of "rock star" is justified in dance music, and refreshing when that success is backed up the musical talent, drive, and sincerity that is possessed by Nick Terranova. His signature blend of catchy vocals, booming bass lines and genre-defying range are always in full effect on tour or at his "Dirty" residencies at Late Night Empire in Las Vegas and crobar Chicago. The energy and sexiness that are hallmarks of Terranova's live shows are also his trademarks as a producer and remixer; a dance music "triple threat." That dirty vocal track your girlfriend keeps singing in the shower? It’s a Nick Terranova production.
The Las Vegas native is best known as the man behind the MASSIVE hit Discoteka. The very first track released under his Starkillers alias lived at the top of the Billboard Dance and Beatport sales charts, named an "Essential Selection" on Pete Tong’s BBC1 radio show, nominated for best underground track at the IDMAs, and supported by almost every major DJ out there. But the track’s success simply encouraged the hard working producer to get his ass back into the studio.
Terranova has an impressive list of musical accomplishments: he runs the record label Terratraxx that he started in 2002, has produced a ton of original productions such as Scream, Dirty Sound, and his massive new track Acid Disco, and done an equally impressive number of high profile remixes. Done both in his own name and under pseudonyms such as Starkillers, Aftertouch, Terranova, Hi_Lo, and Nick Touch, they include remixes of iiO’s Rapture, Stevie Nick’s Stand Back, Paul Oakenfold’s Sex & Money, Holmes & Ives’ 8 Letters, and DJ Dan’s Rock to the Rhythm.
Nick’s collaborative partnership with close friend (and neighbor) Austin Leeds has been equally successful. The two have produced a string of hits together, including Shake Me, Rock Me, For the Pills, and Only You, as well remixes of Dario Nunez’s My World and Dave Spoon’s This Machine. They are a great team on the road, as well, headlining numerous "Starkillers vs. Austin Leeds" nights around the country.
Expect big things in the future for Nick Terranova. He recently kicked off his U.S. tour, appropriately named the Dirty Sound Tour, and will be taking the "dirty sound" global in August, with stops lined up in South America, Europe, Asia, Canada, and Australia. He will be releasing the compilation "Dirty Sound Volume 1: The Injection" in August on Made Records, and he is putting the finishing touches on a massive collaboration with Paul Van Dyk for Van Dyk’s next artist album.
Not bad for such a rising star: Nick Terranova and his "Dirty Sound" are everywhere.
Just keep an eye on that girlfriend of yours. . .

| OPM closed???? That is a shame. I actually liked the venue quite a bit. It was small enough to have that intimate feel but big enough to bring in some big headlinig dj's. That really is a loss for Buffalo, buta plus for the Dragonfly I guess... |
