I think Heath Ledger could potentially do a good job with acting out a madman who's lost everything... so I'm not giving up on this yet.

I read an interview where he said that he knew it would be a challenge to step into Nicholson's shoes and that he is happy with the chance to have a new spin on it.

I don't think most actors would accept a role like this unless they knew what they were getting into... the possibility for public scorn is too great. (unless of course they are a complete megalomaniac to begin with and all bets are off)

I really, really, REALLY don't want him to mimic Nicholson's performance. While I did love that Joker rendition above all else (in the movies, at least - leaving out the comics and cartoons), I'd prefer it to stay in my memories as the one and only "Jack" Jack (if you get the reference, +1). A shoddy performance will anger me to no ends.
