| I don't understand why this has gotten so much buzz, it's not like they are the only artists sampling stuff. |

| House and hip-hop are, historically, sample based genres. I love Daft Punk. Their music is great, and thats all I care about. :p |

It's mainly because most people had never known that it was sampled and also because of some tracks such as Robot Rock and Superheroes that are so similar. |

| As long as people recognize the talent of the artists being sampled from and don't give it all to Daft Punk then it's completely acceptable. |

I don't understand the controversy either. If you like a sound you hear and think it will fit well into one of your tracks, it's a bitch to reproduce it precisely from scratch. That's what samplers are for. |

| Some of those sounds in that vid sound more like a cover version than a sample to me. |

i think sampling is valid until you completely ripoff almost the whole tune. in the most cases the only difference between the daft punk version and the original is a added bassdrum and a bit different compressing/eqing. imho they added very little on their own to the sampled stuff. |

People really didn't know that Daft Punk's music was sampled? It's very easy to recognize the original melodies in tons of their tracks.
Just keep in mind, there's a difference between actual sampling and cut-and-paste. What Daft Punk does with samples is a world apart from what the average nub does.
Although, I'll admit that in a couple of cases, they really did blatantly rip off the original track. Meh, what can you do - this type of thing isn't news in the music industry. |

at first I was like, the music is a funk loop with almost zero addition. But now I'm like, the vocoder work, buildup of vocals and end in solo goodness are so goddamn brilliant that I should stfu. |
