Halcyon Daze & Halluci'Nation
check them out at http://www.soundclick.com/bands/pag...m?bandID=393439 and let me know what you think.
Sampled synths, I'm amateur at producing (have been doing it for years but only do 1-2 songs per year at most, I spend most of my time mixing) so be easy on me! |

"Hallucination" sounds kinda like an old trance supersaw pad over DnB elements. Personally, the intro drags a tad with it's intro, but you've got the sounds right (I lost count of how many times the same drum loop repeats over the same pad). Oh wait, it's not an intro. Then, you've got the bass sounding like it is off-key and not fitting to the pad. When I hear this track, I look at the pad and wonder if everything else is fitting the pad, and maybe that's not the perspective I should look at. However, the change-up you are referring to is obviously this C64 synth bleeping up into the pad. Then a new bass instrument comes into play which is more reasonable... I think you should lose the broken-semi horn. I love the new instrument at about 3:25ish. Hallucination would be sweet with more work put into it (The first half, and the first bass instrument). Maybe I'm off my hinges...
"Halcyon Daze" has a really stupid vocal message... then I kinda lost it with the male going "nha-nha" throughout the next seconds of the track. That kind of ruined it for me, personally. Maybe others would dissagree, but I've heard more interesting DnB with supersaw leads. It's just too repetitive for my tastes, the arrangement of the song isn't for me. Maybe I'm off my hinges (or don't listen to enough DnB)... or maybe it's because I never do or did drugs -- take your pick. |

Hey, I really like your tunes man. I think you are doing great and need to keep it up but 1-2 songs per year is way too little!
I would suggest investing in some good sample libraries and mixing up the snares a bit, other than that it was fun! |
