That's funny. Because if I were to make a list of DJs of who could be totally cool and laid back one time you meet him, and different later, even on the same night, they'd be near the top of the list. :)

admire someone for actually accomplishing something of value. admiring someone because they fade one record into another? |

| If i was a DJ and fans were bugging me and swarming over me all night, i would get pretty annoyed eventually too. |

Sasha is an introvert...
really shy around people...
i never met the guy, but the his buddy Sparrow kinda told/warned me about his personality...
thats why Sparrow (an outrovert as he called it), does all the talking...
to be honest...
he talks a little toooo much!
SPARROW IS THE MAN!!!
I think its kind of funner hanging out with him! |

Just curious to know if you still support your favorite DJ after you met him and he was rude to you. |
Andy Moor has to be the rudest one I've met so far, but I heard he was pretty tired from traveling so much before his set at 1015. However, I still love his music though and will continue to play it. I know next time to never bring him anything to sign and ask to take a picture with him.
I'm surprized Armin didn't sign your stuff. He's signed nearly ALL of Lexxx's records everytime he's came out. |

I could be a total ass about this comment but im not going to. I realize everyone on this forum have their own visions and opinions so ill leave it at that....
For me ..travelling the world over, seeing Djs, Artist, Musicians and shows... Ive learned a rule thats valued and followed by mostly everyone...
GIVE THE DJ THEIR SPACE.
While Artist and Djs, Musicians love the attention, never, ever bother a Dj while he is in the mix. Lately, at local events and shows, everyones been really breaking this rule. This is extremely important when the Dj are coming on...
(Which is why another reason why the nights are being moderated more closely now.)
A few months ago when I was headlining, a patron was in the booth off to the left to me while I was in the mix. He was loving my sound, but kept poking me in the ribs saying how dope the sound was. I didnt mind, until he kept doing it every 2 minutes.. or asking me what the name of the track was, or asking someone to tell me to do this or that. Then my beats got off....
This for any Dj shouldnt happen, which is why space is limited at venues. Those rooms, Stages, Green Rooms, Booth Space should be limited to Djs, their guests and their friends. Ill generally ask if I can come up, if its a no then I dont force it...
A couple months ago, I got the impresssion that one of our headliners felt overcrowded.. thus causing him to leave EARLY. Totally pissed me off because this was someone I really looked up to and wanted to make sure he had a good time. Both him and his guests kinda felt that way too, bombarded with people approaching them, sign this, take a pic with me here, can I kiss you... bleh bleh.. It got totally annoying in minutes.. FAST.
Also, if you see a Dj associating with a female, dont approach him for a pic with you or someone else, or interupt him if hes talking to someone else to sign something or whatever... This happened to a few people after Paul Oakendfolds set. Basically, look at it this way... if your trying to spit game, would you want someone getting all in your face asking if you can take a picture with you, or if can sign this or whatever... Most of the time, when I see people approaching other Djs or Artists, their in a rush to get what they want.. keep in mind too that your in a loud area where they probably cant here what your saying.. while your yelling, or spitting while you talk in their face while talking.. trying to ask to do something...obviously, they are probably gonna get bleh with you.. I would, cmon, wouldnt you?
Everyones human. Djs are human. Ya they are someone you look up to, respect, love their sound or someone you wanna meet or whatever... and Ive met several Djs with their attitudes of "IM SO AND SO".. some djs are more focused...some arent...
No Dj I have ever met locally has been a dick. With the exception of a few Djs In the greenroom at 1015.. But then as stated above.. Give em their space... |

Sasha also has TWO of my zippos from past gigs way back in the day. I want them back.
I worked hard providing my Drive License to get them from those people who go around and went to send you Marlboro stuff in the mail. :-p |
Man what an :stongue:
I saw Sasha on his birthday, said happy birthday and bought him a drink...he looked at me and said "no thanks mate I get them for free" and gave me a shot. Sounds pretty cool to me :conf: |

That's so funny that you say that, if you reread my post (that I had had accidently posted w/o finishing) my story was about him:eek: |
I have photographed pretty much all big name dj's around and I have to agree with Dave T. We should never forget they are human too and have moods like all of us. But on the other hand if they continue to be a prick everytime then it's clear what kind of person they are.
I've witnessed some pretty crazy fans so I can totally understand the DJ for being rude at times. Interrupting a dj while he's mixing before a live crowd to get an autograph isn't the most polite thing to do. Some dj's don't mind and can do it. While others require more focus and don't like to be disturbed. Please be reasonable!
Techno-Twins I think I photographed you two down here in L.A. a couple years ago at Ferry Corsten show at Avalon. I could be wrong. But if I'm not and it is you two then I can't imagine Oakey being a prick to you two cause you guys were so fun!!!! His kind of chicks! :)Oakey parties HARD!!!! |
