| Its weird though. I listen to tracks all day long and been trying to make tracks and like i feel like i am never satisfied and I feel as if there is something missing. Other people will tell me that it sounds great. and some people that know music say yeah it needs work something missing. then i hear professional tracks and i am like Wow man the first Bar of the track already sounds amazingly done.. So i am like what am i missing in this.. I hope you follow me . Thank you |

| Use Gates. Chopping up a few synths right beofre an climax etc etc, can really give some 'drive' Also, 16'th/32'rd noted melodies work wonders aswell. OF corse, higher BPM, can give you drive also. |

like im new to producing... like maybe 2 weeks or so... and ive been ing around trying to make songs a load in the past 2 weeks.
and some reason all my ends up being downtempo and ambient like... when i really wanna make some banging trance... i have no clue
my melodies just dont seem to fit trance...and it just seems to bring the "drive" down ... even if i set the bpm to like 135-140...
im clueless as well |

wtf, youve been producing 2 weeks and you're whining about why you're tracks dont sound like you want them to? if you still aren't getting results in a YEAR or two then the whining is well merited, but otherwise, get a grip and make some tracks! its the only way to get better. |

it takes years not weeks mate. you've just gotta keep at it and slowly each element will improve. once they have all improved a lot, you'll have a good tune on your hands.
And to you and the initial poster, put up a sample and we can be a lot more helpful... |

Maybe the quickest way to get the idea of what your tracks lack at - try recreating a part of a pro's track from scratch (probably best with a section of the track which is not so complex but still has the fullness/ drive whatever), every sound/sample etc... And when you get to the point when you think you recreated it all, check out the sounds in the background that the pro track has and your doesnt...
Dunno if I was clear, but still I've tried it and got some nice results... It cant do you wrong thats for sure ;) |

I've been doing this for 6 years and I have just started to bang out some good sounding tunes. Maybe I'm a production handicapped or something but hey I've been banging away for 6 years trying and wont stop now.
Bets advice I can give to really know your music..as in actually listen to the music you are trying to make. It wont help you smack out some great tunes off the bat but it will sure help you out in the progression of a track....that is a crucial part in production that a lot of people overlook. Anyone can make a 10 second clip that sounds good but try making a whole track that is still interesting after 1 minute. Read a lot of tutorials, try a lot of out and experiment. |

Oh i know that for sure. haha i actually long long time ago actually took alice deejay- better off alone. And tried recreating the whole track from scratch using my ears to learn from ( which was recommended to me to do). and def learned a lot. But these days there is so much complex stuff going into these tracks that i feel like my tracks could be lacking some stuff. ALL I DO IS Listen to tracks of pro tracks and try to use ideas and try to see how they build it up and drop things in and out.. but then i go back to the drawing board and try to recreate let say a Bassline and it doesnt have the same Drive the one in the song does. Now i know you are thinking. Well they are you compressing adding dynamics Etc.. etc.. Well. What maybe are those certain things they add warmth tightness and clarity they have.. I dont know sorry if i am rambling..
Thank you |
