Never mind Keithos27. It was in a lighter vein and aimed more at trying to understand why we always ask for "hand in marriage" (or the origin of the phrase ) instead of the whole person.
Why so much importance to just the hand? Why not "ask for lips in marriage" or "ask for head in marriage" "ask for legs in marriage" or .. well, i'll leave it at that. |

lol... i think it's to illustrate that you're taking that person by the hand to be your partner in life... when you are holding hands you are side by side... not in front of, nor behind that person. |
