www.hostelworld.com
or
for the Uk, I stayed here for 2 days:
www.dovercastlehostel.com
It's super close to everything party related (Ministry of Sound etc), not even too far from St Pauls, Millenium bridge, it rocks. I stayed there a month ago.
What a bunch of us off here did two years ago is start the EU tour this way, most people tend to do it the following way in this order as well:
London, Spain, France, Belgium, Holland (Amsterdam etc), Germany, Eastern Europe, then Italy, Greece, etc, then back up to London. I stopped at Italy and missed out on Spain but I recommend do NOT miss out on Spain...best way to see it is after London intially or go there first and head up to the Uk/France/Netherlands then head south east from there to Germany. |

Tips:
- Cheap hotels can be chaper than hostels in Paris
- In most cities, if you wanna stay for cheap, look into campsites just outside of town. They have nice cabins and are a fraction of the cost of hostels and hotels. (rome, venice, etc). There are usually daily bus shuttles into town.
- Look into the festivals and special events happening around europe and schedule accordingly
- best places to visit are rome, paris, venice, and anywhere along frances southern coast. |

- If flying into London (Gatwick) as your first stop, consider the cost of getting from the airport to the city centre, it's not the cheapest thing so it may offset what you save rather than flying into London (Heathrow).
- If travelling by rail, book your reservation out of the city when you're getting into the city, it saves time. And reservations usually only cost 2-3 euros wtih a Eurail pass.
- Travelling by plane is sometimes cheaper than by rail, so don't rule it out, just ensure you factor in travel time to and at the airport as well as the fact that charter flights usually fly out of smaller airports located far from the city centre and at inconvenient times.
- Some hostels reserve beds for people who just show up the day they arrive, so when you're booking online and can't find a bed, don't give up just yet.
- Don't spend your Euros in countries which have just joined the EU and are slowly integrating the new currency. Use the local currency, but don't exchange funds with shady looking guys on the streets, always use a bank or bank machine.
- A lot of banks don't charge you for redeeming travellers cheques which only come at a 1% comission charge when you buy them. This may help save on PLUS ABM withdrawal fees while you're there.
- If you have a GSM world phone, get a pre-paid SIM card that allows in-network calling/texts to anyone with the same provider. This way if you're with friends you can stay in touch easily. Make sure you consider roaming fees while out of country (texts are usually a good option then).
- Expect lots of Aussies everywhere... they can be charming at first... at first.

Italy.
Specifically Florence, Siena, Venice is only a weekend trip AND no longer, skip Milan, go to Italian alps (Poretta) pizza, drink good cheap wine & bring if you see a McDonalds use the washroom, it will be clean and free.
if you want more detailed info on travelling Italy I would be more than willing to help.
