Guage-Interest: audio/DJ gear dust covers
View this Thread in Original format
SgtFoo
This here thread is a "Gauge-Interest" thread for any DJs, producers, gear-heads and/or audiophile or anyone else who wants to have some decently made custom-sized multi-fabric dust covers for almost any piece of electronic gear. Note: it's a guage-interest thread... not yet a buying thread.

--------------------------------------
*I'm currently in talks with a supplier as for gathering prices for these based on order volume.
*I'm trying to get all options open for these, such as fabric type, colour, size, etc. in order to accommodate everyone's needs.
[such fabrics available could include cotton/canvass/vinyl/nylon/etc]
*These are quality durable covers for our gear.
*Great for gigging to, as they can be optionally water-proof
*good for covering any equipment (custom sizes too!), such as PS2s, XBOXs, speakers, amps, keyboards, turntables, TVs, mixers/consoles, CDJs, etc...!

---------------------------------------
Once I've secured the supplier's OK for a wholesale order, I'll add more details, but I need as many interested people as possible to post here. 10 people is not likely enough. 20 is better. 30 to 50 is prime!
Even if you have friends who are interested, you will be able to post orders for them through your own username. If you're unfamiliar with this group-buy process, or have any questions, feel free to email me...

Please post what you might be interested in getting a dust-cover for so I can guage interest accordingly

If this interest thread falls thru, all information will be disregarded and you'll have to grab these yourself at a fatter price tag ;)

Please NOTE!.. I make no profit off this. I want some for myself and thought some other DJs would too; just without the big price tag of shipping these from California.

I'm in. I need covers for 1000mk3. i want em to be water resistant though. Neoprene would be really cool too.

There's waterproof nylon & vinyl AFAIK. would look sweet to cover a cdj with shiny black vinyl...

I'm grabbing some to cover all my gear, plus a production mixer, keyboard, mbox, ps2 and speakers.... if this goes well.

I'd be up for it but getting my 2nd cdj soooooooooooooooooooooooooon, then I'll know what's up.
Invasionmix
I don't know how much a dust cover would cost, but my Star Wars: Episode 1 bed sheet doesn't look cool over my CDJs

they'd be pretty easy to make yourself, for very little money to. all you need is the material and someone who knows how to use a sewing machine.

You seem to have missed the reasons and benefits to a group-buy. If I and everyone else was willing to ship em from Europe, I'd have no reason to try this out.

anyways...

Bump!

i might be interested for 2 cdj 800s.. though i would like to know the price if possible (an estimate would be good too)

If your equipment is laying around long enough to gather dust...

you're not a DJ.

you're not a DJ.

I was 100% sure someone would mention this...

in reply...

1. Some of us gig constantly enough to actually be worried about dust.
2. dust destroys faders and pots
3. I like to play on clean gear.

...I think it;s enough reason.

...ballpark prices are about $20-$30 each cover... for soemthng like the size of a CDJ800

basilisk
That sounds reasonable.

If you create a worry, people will buy your product.

Dust is a peon on a list of DJ worries. To be constructive, when it comes to environmental effects on DJ equipment, it would be more important to highlight benefits to problem of equipment oxidation. Dust has very little effect to potentiometers compared to oxidation. Our climate changes dramatically from day-to-day, and oxidation caused by humidity is worse on the wiper contacts and how they connects with the cermet on the fixed contacts. To give an example, if you ever turned on an old radio and you hear that loud crackling sound upon turning the know, that's oxidation on the pot.

Fortunately my mixer still works today after well over a decade of use, including plenty of dust, sweat, snacks and sticky fingers. I have a dehumidifier in my basement, so my equipment, vinyl and personal belongings keep moisture and mold-free.

If your product helps reduce humidity, it would be a bigger concern to reap on.
